Press release from: SGS

/ PR Agency: Sugarloaf Marketing
SGS’s ISO 17025 accredited laboratory in Ho Chi Minh City has been approved to conduct safety certification on toys destined for the Vietnamese market. Already a leading testing center for toys bound for the United States and Europe, this expansion of its services makes SGS the one-stop solution for all toy testing and certification needs in Vietnam.

Since April 15, 2010, all toys offered for sale or distribution in Vietnam must conform to the National Technical Regulation on Safety of Toys QCVN 3: 2009/BKHCN. Only once a toy has received conformity certification, a conformity declaration and a certificate of registration (CR) mark, can it be placed on the Vietnamese market.

Following approval by Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the Ho Chi Minh City laboratory can now offer the full-range of tests required for toy accreditation, including those associated with:

• Safety requirements:
o Physical safety:
- TCVN 6238-1: 2008 (ISO 8124-1: 2000) Safety aspects related to mechanical and physical properties
o Flammability:
- TCVN 6238-2: 2008 (ISO 8124-2: 2007) Flammability
o Chemical safety:
- TCVN 6238-3: 2008 (ISO 8124-3: 1997) Migration of certain elements
- Toxic organic compounds: pH, Formaldehyde, Azo Dye and the others
o Electrical toy safety: besides the physical, flammability and chemical requirements, the nominal voltage of electrical toys must not exceed 24V
• Labeling requirement:
o National requirement of regulation about labeling (89/2006/NĐ-CP) – product labels must display warning marks in accordance with the regulations of all corresponding standards

With its approval as a certification center for toys, in accordance with the National Technical Regulation on Safety of Toys QCVN 3: 2009/BKHCN, SGS’s laboratory in Ho Chi Minh City has become the one-stop solution for all toy manufacturers and distributors looking to access Vietnam’s domestic market and markets around the world.
