Press release from: Wild Animal Publishing

John Benjamin Sciarra will be appearing at Borders in the following locations: December 10th in Poughkeepsie, New York; December 17th in Simsbury, Connecticut and January 21st in Fairfield, Connecticut. “Shoestrings,” the first of a series of children’s novels has been received enthusiastically by children, parents and teachers.

Nina Grigoreas, a former middle and high school-level teacher in the Canterbury and Woodstock, CT school systems, says of “Shoestrings—No Time For Dinosaurs,” “I was struck by your ability to capture the thoughts and feelings of the young adolescent characters and make them spring to life on the printed page. You have created a wonderful adventure story for kids of all ages to enjoy. The endless possibility to explore and teach children things they might not have otherwise even considered in future installments of “Shoestrings” is evident.”

“Sweeping from the sterilized labs of America to a rainy, volcano spewing world inhabited by the dinosaurs, Sciarra weaves a web of adventure, suspense, confidence and innocence, that leaves you wanting for more. The book can be best described as a cross between ‘Honey, I shrunk the Kids’ and ‘Jurassic Park’ with a little bit of ‘Cosmos’ and ‘The Time Machine’ thrown in for fun,” says Deepa Kandaswamy ( “If you thought physics and paleontology was dull, think again.”

Sciarra hopes that 2006 will bring even greater recognition to the series as he continues to make appearances at book stores, museums, schools and other venues. He hopes to demonstrate the strength of the independent publisher and the small press to impact the book selling industry by smart marketing and a great story. “Shoestrings—No Time For Dinosaurs” can be purchased from all Borders locations by request.
