Vantec Introduces New Line of FireWire 800 Peripherals
FREMONT, California – August 19, 2008 – Vantec Thermal Technologies, a worldwide leader specializing in computer accessories introduces two new FireWire 800 peripherals—the Quad Interface NexStar 3 and the FireWire 800/400 PCI Host Card. The new NexStar 3 will feature Quad Interface support which includes USB 2.0, eSATA, FireWire 800, and FireWire 400 thus combining flexibility and convenience. The new 3-Port FireWire 800/400 PCI Host Card is a great addition for users upgrading to the latest FireWire 800 interface.FireWire 800 is the next generation 1394 FireWire technology which is slowly replacing the current FireWire 400 (1394a) standard. These two products complement each other due to the new enclosure’s support for the FireWire 800 interface allowing higher speed of data transfer at 800 Mbps which is a significant increase compared to the more common Hi-Speed USB interface transferring at the speed of about 480 Mbps.
Being the pioneer in the Built-Your-Own-Drive market, Vantec has continued to expand their popular NexStar 3 line with support for more interfaces along with the adoption of SATA hard drives. By integrating FireWire 800, Vantec now has an extensive line of external hard drive enclosures allowing the support for various interfaces.
