GreenifyNow Thinks They Have a Solution to Global Warming

COLUMBUS, OH—August 6, 2008-- According to multiple scientific studies, the average American family needs to plant about 30 trees per year to offset the CO2 produced by their daily energy use (USDA.gov). There are currently over 301 million people living in the United States (CIA.gov). According to those stats, that means over 9 billion trees need to be planted, each year, in the United States, to account for its carbon footprint.

A new organization is storming its way to the front lines in the fight against global warming. GreenifyNow, whose motto is “Every Tree Counts”, wholeheartedly believes that planting millions and millions of trees is the partial if not total solution to cool down the warming climate. The organization was started in July 2008 by a 26 year old college graduate, Ryan Rodgers. Ryan recently devoted the rest of his life to greenifying the United States and GreenifyNow is his way of involving others. Ryan’s ultimate goal is to plant a billion trees in the United States. GreenifyNow’s concept is, if they make people aware of what their carbon debt is to the earth, they will feel obligated to pay it off, by planting the equivalent amount of trees.

GreenifyNow’s short term goal is to plant one million trees in the next few years, and double that number each year thereafter. They will achieve their goals by teaching the American Public that their carbon debt can be paid off by planting trees, and motivating them to do so. Ryan Rodgers, the Director of GreenifyNow, claims to have a few tricks up his sleeve in order motivate people to do this.

GreenifyNow also realizes that not everyone has the space or the time to plant one or fifty trees each year, so they will do it for those people. At www.greenifynow.org , every $2 donated plants one tree in the United States. Also, the website has many interesting tree facts and articles written by the Directors of the organization.

Currently, GreenifyNow is planting trees in the United States where they are needed most, in areas that have been badly burned or flooded out. Most recently, trees have been planted in the Southern California region that has been plagued in the past few years by forest fires.
