Press release from: econique

On the 17th and 18th of November 2008, the elite network econique is organising the European Utilities Strategy Summit, which will be co-located with the CxO Dialog European Telco Strategy in the Hotel Ritz-Carlton in Berlin.

The summit will address European executives from gas and electricity companies and the main theme of the networking event are: creating today the conditions for tomorrow’s success of the industry. Within the networking event, leading managers will discuss on the base of their experience which are taken by econique before the event.
As liberalisation increases, the energy market finds itself in a landscape of great change. Ownership unbundling, which could give the competition an extreme push is one of the current hot topics which will be looked at, as is the EU- climate change package 2020 which augments the significance of the sustainability in the production.
Due to new European regulation, utilities have to face significant change ranging from power production to sales. Therefore, the priority is set on securing market position, profits and competitiveness.

Prof. Pantelis Capros, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National Technical University of Athens, Greece, opens the two day event. Having been the director of the regulation authority in Greece and now one of the most important scientific voices in Europe, Capros is well-placed to lead the executive-level discussions.

Along with welcoming organisations from the United States and Europe, econique also looks forward to being joined by speakers from companies such as Vattenfall, Iberdrola and E.ON. The event will shine a light on strategic success factors; moving from the future energy mix to sustainability, regulation and to process-oriented and organisational efficiency issues.
