SGS-TÜV Partners with kVA in the US to Offer Functional Safety Training Programs to the Automotive Industry
SGS-TÜV has partnered with the US based technical and management consulting group, kVA, to offer functional safety training for electrical systems in the automotive and automation industry. The partnership will allow kVA to offer two SGS training programs to the North American automotive industry:• “Automotive Functional Safety Professional” (AFSP)
• “Industrial Functional Safety Professional” (IFSP)
SGS-TÜV is globally-recognized as an expert in both the ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 standards and offers a range of services relating to functional safety standards for the automobile and automation sector:
• ISO 26262 – Road vehicles – Functional safety
• IEC 61508 – Functional Safety of Electrical/Electronic/Programmable Electronic Safety-related Systems (E/E/PE, or E/E/PES)
“This cooperation will enhance SGS’s competitiveness by adding our expertise in training, testing, inspection, certification and consulting for Functional Safety and Cyber Security to the portfolio of services available in the North American hemisphere,” says Martin Schmidt, Global Manager Functional Safety SGS Group.
Managing partner for kVA, Bill Taylor, states that partnering with SGS-TÜV will strengthen kVA’s training programs in functional safety, ISO 26262 and IEC 61508. It will also allow kVA to “address relevant topics for our global clients, including functional safety assessment, audit, and consulting activities."
kVA’s first AFSP training session will run between May 1 and May 4, 2017, in Troy, Michigan. Each training course will take three-and-a-half-days and will conclude with an optional certification exam. In addition to training at their own facilities, kVA are also able to offer on-site training to interested parties.
