Press release from: DESCAM 3D Technologies GmbH

ModelMaker D and LAMAS deliver best performance: Versatile applications and a gain for all industries.

ModelMaker is a laser scanning system that has been introduced onto the market 14 years before. It is always in use on a coordinate measurement arm. Due to its hand-held laser scanning, ModelMaker captures a big variety of objects completely and without contact.

The sensor is moved along the object being scanned and captures the surface. The point cloud will then be optimised and triangulated. After a short time, polygons in STL-format are available. On this data, tool-paths can be calculated, rapid prototyping parts can be manufactured or different simulations be done.

ModelMaker is applied to industries such as foundries, drop forges, within the automotive and its suppliers, in the aerospace industries, in tool and mould making, art, medicine, handcraft as well as for training and research.

An investment in ModelMaker is worthwhile due to many different applications. ModelMaker supports the customer e.g. in stock receipt, inspection, design or construction. Nearly any object can be scanned with ModelMaker quick and productive. From scan data CAD data can be generated (surfacing), compared to reference data (inspection), and used for simulations (stiffness, temperature distribution, flow behaviour etc.), rapid prototyping or milling.

Next to ModelMaker, DESCAM is developing and producing LAMAS, a laser measurement and analysis systems in mass production. LAMAS is a customized system and thus meets every single need within special applications. It quantifies e.g. dimensions, density, volume and GD & T in a very short time. Every measurement is logged with a clear index, thus secular trends can be traced due to the analysis of any measurement report. The output is reliable and operator-independent. In February 2008, LAMAS was priced with an award for innovation from the supply industries.

For further information, please meet DESCAM in Moscow at the trade fair RosMould: Crocus Exhibition Center, Moscow, Pavilion 2, hall 7, booth A22 from June 17th until 19th 2008 or visit www.descam.de .

According to the corporate philosophy, DESCAM is offering system solutions including laser scanner, measurement arm, notebook, software, training, support and all accessories and expendable items.

Another focus is on offering services, e.g. laser scanning, surfacing, inspection, training, repair, support and customized applications on-site or at the DESCAM office.

Services are a reasonable alternative if an investment is not possible due to the cost, if none of the employees can spare time for laser scanning, or if there are not enough applications within the company.
