It also means another $10 committed to Metro Food Rescue, a Southeast Michigan nonprofit working to keep good food from going to waste and get it to people who need it.

The Michigan-based roofing and exterior remodeling company has made giving part of its everyday operations, pledging $10 for every job it completes. Unlike a seasonal fundraiser or one-time charitable campaign, the commitment has no planned end date.

Performance Roofing & Siding typically completes 30 to 50 projects each month, generating an estimated $300 to $500 in monthly contributions through its $10-per-job commitment. Based on Metro Food Rescue's estimate that every dollar donated can help provide the equivalent of nine meals, even the lower end of that range could support the distribution of more than 30,000 meals over a year.

Helping Good Food Reach the People Who Need It

While perfectly usable food goes to waste, families across Michigan continue to depend on local food pantries and community organizations for support. Metro Food Rescue works to close that gap.

The nonprofit rescues surplus food that would otherwise be discarded and delivers it to organizations serving people facing food insecurity throughout Southeast Michigan.
