Eli's Paver Patios Targets Muddy Tacoma Yards With Artificial Turf Installation

TACOMA, Wash., October 28, 2026 - Eli's Paver Patios is highlighting artificial turf installation (https://elispaverpatios.com/artificial-turf/) for Tacoma-area homeowners whose lawns turn muddy during the rainy season. The company installs residential turf, pet turf and backyard putting greens, serving the area from its showroom at Tacoma Mall, with each installation built on a prepared, compacted base designed to drain.

The timing reflects the local climate. According to NOAA's 1991-2020 U.S. Climate Normals, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport averages 39.34 inches of precipitation a year, including 6.31 inches in November, with measurable precipitation on about 18 days that month. For households with dogs, that often means worn grass, puddles and muddy paws tracked indoors.

What Goes Under a Turf Lawn Built for Rain

Most of the performance of artificial turf comes from layers homeowners never see. Eli's Paver Patios builds each installation in stages:

- Native soil excavated and prepared to support the system
- A compacted crushed-stone aggregate sub-base for stability and drainage
- A smooth, graded leveling layer that helps water move through and away
- Turf and infill installed with clean edges and precise seams

"In Tacoma the question isn't whether it will rain, it's where the water goes," said James Domaschofsky, owner of Eli's Paver Patios. "A turf lawn is only as good as the base under it. Getting the excavation, compaction and grading right is what keeps it usable for kids and dogs in January."

Where Artificial Turf Makes the Most Sense

Turf is not the answer for every yard, but it solves a few common Western Washington problems well:

- Dog runs and pet areas that turn to bare mud each winter
- Shaded side yards where grass thins out
- Small backyards and play areas that see heavy daily use
- Spaces beside patios and walkways where a clean, defined edge matters

Because Eli's Paver Patios also installs pavers and retaining walls, turf areas can be framed with paver borders, patios and walkways in a single project.

Turf Options for Pets, Play and Low-Maintenance Lawns

- Pet turf: odor-resistant, fast-draining turf built for daily play
- Residential turf: an evergreen lawn with no watering, mowing or fertilizing
- Putting green turf: a smooth, consistent surface for backyard putting practice
- Turf maintenance plan: monthly debris clearing and infill top-up, plus an annual power brooming and deodorizing treatment
