Press release from: Marco De Luca

Italian singer-songwriter Marco De Luca has released La Stagione Decisiva, his fourth album following Stanze Remote (2006), Due (2008), and Canzoni Inedite (2012).

The album consists of eight tracks, including three songs originally taken from the repertoire of Sine, the band De Luca performed with until 2000. The tracks "Videospazzatura," "Il Mostro," and "Un Uomo Gentile" have been revisited and rearranged to match the sound of the album's five unreleased songs.

La Stagione Decisiva stands apart from De Luca's previous works thanks to its greater use of keyboards, which are featured throughout all the songs. The album also embraces a stronger psychedelic rock sound, differing from the more new wave and dark influences that characterized his earlier releases, where guitars played a more central role.

The album is conceived as a protest against contemporary society and some of its darkest aspects, with each song addressing a specific social issue.

The opening track, "Videospazzatura" ("Video Trash"), focuses on what De Luca describes as the "television of pain," referring to media that exploits people's suffering to gain audiences. "Il Mostro" ("The Monster") deals with the fear generated by ignorance toward anything perceived as different, a fear that can lead to racism.

"La Festa" ("The Party") tells the story of a young girl who is mocked and ostracized by her peers. "Alla Deriva" ("Adrift") is dedicated to people living on the margins of society, forgotten individuals who are drifting away from public attention. "15 Anni" ("15 Years") addresses the exploitation of minors.

Another key track, "Un Uomo Gentile" ("A Kind Man"), portrays a gentle person living within an unkind environment. "Aspiranti Modelle" ("Aspiring Models") focuses on prostitution, while the closing track "Il Giorno" ("The Day") reflects on war.

A distinctive feature of the project is that the album was written, arranged, and recorded entirely by Marco De Luca in a studio, highlighting the personal nature of the work.

With La Stagione Decisiva, Marco De Luca presents a collection of songs that combines psychedelic rock influences with reflections on social issues, creating an album that explores topics ranging from discrimination and exclusion to exploitation and war.

Marco De Luca, a singer-songwriter from Atri, in the province of Teramo, began his musical career in 1990 with the band Sine, performing original songs as well as covers of The Cure, a major source of inspiration for him.

In the early 2000s, the band disbanded and De Luca continued his activity as a solo artist. Reducing his live performances, he focused on writing new material, leading to the release of Stanze Remote in 2006. The album, entirely self-produced and recorded by De Luca in his home studio, featured experimental sounds influenced by 1980s new wave music.

In 2008, he released the EP Due, another independent production created with the collaboration of other musicians. On the project, De Luca handled vocals, guitars, and computer-based arrangements, joined by a bassist, drummer, and percussionist. Compared to his previous work, the EP embraced a more pop-oriented approach, with more open and accessible sounds, and received airplay on several web radio stations.

In 2012, De Luca released Canzoni Inedite, a collection of songs written during different periods and brought together in an album with a stronger singer-songwriter identity.

His latest release, La Stagione Decisiva, marks a new chapter in his artistic journey. The eight-track album combines psychedelic rock influences with reflections on social issues, addressing themes such as racism, social exclusion, exploitation, prostitution, and war. Three songs originally performed with Sine have been revisited and rearranged alongside five previously unreleased tracks. The album was written, arranged, and recorded entirely by Marco De Luca in a studio.
