Ebru Ertürk, host of the BizBize Talk podcast

Ebru Ertürk has made plenty of plans in her life. Several of them didn't work out the way she expected. Looking back, that may be the most useful thing about her story.

An early start

Ertürk [https://www.instagram.com/bizbizetalk_/] got her first job at 16. Most of her friends were still thinking about exams. She was already learning what it meant to turn up on time, take instructions and earn her own money.

She kept working through university, where she studied civil engineering. After graduating she went further and completed a master's degree in architecture. Then came a long stretch of stability: around ten years at a government institution in Istanbul, working across different roles in construction.

It was steady, technical work. It also taught her discipline, and that habit stayed with her through everything that followed.

London, 2019

In 2019, Ertürk moved to London. She had a clear plan. She would study for an MBA, and she would set up her own construction company in the UK under the Ankara Agreement, the arrangement that allowed Turkish nationals to establish businesses there.

Then the COVID-19 pandemic arrived, and the plan stalled.

She stayed in London anyway. What followed was a period many expats will recognise. She took the work that was available. She waited tables. She worked in accounting. An engineer with a master's degree and a decade of experience was starting again, closer to the bottom than the top.

Ertürk doesn't frame that time as a setback. She adapted. Alongside those jobs she moved into digital marketing, learning a field that had nothing to do with concrete or site plans. She worked her way up to digital marketing manager. Along the way she built a wide network of websites, publications and editors.

A new passport, a new city

After five years in the UK, Ertürk was granted indefinite leave to remain. She later became a British citizen. For a while she thought about spending time back in Turkey. Life had other ideas, and she ended up in Dubai.

This time she finally acted on the urge to run her own business. It wasn't the construction firm she had once planned for London. It was Elexacar, a rent-a-car company in Dubai. She owns it and works in it day to day, handling the running of the business herself.

The conversations that started it all

BizBize Talk [https://www.youtube.com/@Bizbizetalk] grew out of something Ertürk had been doing for years without thinking much about it. In London, she liked meeting people and hearing about their lives. Over time she noticed that those conversations changed her own thinking. Someone else's experience could open up an idea she'd never have reached alone.

So she turned the habit into a podcast. On BizBize Talk she sits down with guests from different professions and backgrounds. The tone is warm and the pace is relaxed. The aim is to let people share what they've been through, so that viewers can take something from it.

It makes sense that Ertürk would host a show like this. Her own life has been a series of detours. She knows that the most useful lessons often come from the parts of a story that didn't go to plan.

What the detours added up to

Engineer. Architect. Waitress. Accountant. Digital marketing manager. Business owner. Podcast host. On paper the list looks scattered. In practice, each step fed the next one.

Ertürk's story is a reminder that a career doesn't have to follow a straight line. Sometimes the plan changes, and the new route turns out to be a better one.

How to Tell If Your WhatsApp Is Hacked and Secure Your Account
WhatsApp is used every day for personal conversations, business communication, photos, documents, and other private information. That convenience can also make an account attractive to scmmers, stalkers, and cybercriminals looking for unauthorized access. Someone may remain connected through a linked device, malicious software may be running on a phone, or an attacker may repeatedly attempt to register the number elsewhere.…

How AI is Changing the Backyard Birdwatching Experience-From Passive Bird Feedin …
Backyard birdwatching has long been a quiet, passive hobby. People filled feeders, watched from a distance, and hoped to recognize a few familiar species. Today that experience is transforming.
