What Is InstaFinsta And What Can It Save From Instagram

Instagram has let users download public reels since 2023, but its own Download button only covers reels. The saved file carries an Instagram watermark with the account name, reels built on licensed music come out silent, and public accounts can switch the option off for their reels.

InstaFinsta is a free website that reaches the rest of Instagram. Found at https://insta-finsta.com, it saves reels, photos, carousels, stories, highlights, longer videos and profile pictures from a pasted link or a username, and it can pull the audio out of a reel as an MP3. There is no login, no app and no extension to install.

The site is operated from the UK under Capital Technologies England and lists its company number as 11903724, while its footer credits developers in Karachi and Bombay. It runs no ads and has no subscription. Sponsors cover the running costs, according to the homepage, which also claims more than 2 million downloads so far.

Reels Come Back As The Original Upload

InstaFinsta fetches a reel straight from Instagram's servers rather than re-encoding it. The file is the one the creator uploaded, with nothing added to the frame. Instagram stores a reel's picture and its sound as separate streams and joins them at playback. The site says it pulls both and merges them the same way, which is why its files are not silent the way some downloaders' are.

Licensed music is still a catch. Tracks from Instagram's music library carry restrictions on leaving the platform, so they can arrive muted here as well, while original audio and voiceovers come through intact. The audio extractor takes the same reel links and returns an MP3 at 128 to 256 kbps, depending on what Instagram stored.

Stories And Carousels

Stories Work From A Username

For stories, InstaFinsta asks for the account rather than a link. Paste the handle or the profile URL and it collects everything that account has posted in the last 24 hours, with any highlights shown in a separate row underneath. It usually takes 3 to 5 seconds.

Stickers, polls and text overlays stay where the creator placed them. That is something a screenshot cannot match, since a link sticker in a screenshot is a picture of a button that leads nowhere and a poll freezes at whatever numbers were showing.

Carousels Arrive As One Zip

Instagram raised the carousel limit from 10 slides to 20 in August 2024, and InstaFinsta returns every slide in a single zip file. Each file is named by its position, from slide_01 to the last one. A slide that is unticked in the preview leaves a gap in the numbering instead of shifting the rest, so the fourth slide stays slide_04 even when it is the only one kept.

Captions and comments are not included in the zip.

Mollygram, Stealthgram And Twastia

InstaFinsta also runs 3 side tools under brand names of their own, each built for a single job:

Mollygram is a story viewer. It loads public stories in the browser so they can be watched without the viewer's name landing on the list, with no ads over the content and no countdown before a button works.
Stealthgram downloads highlights. It takes a highlight link copied from the share arrow and returns every slide as JPG or MP4, in the order the account arranged them.
Twastia returns profile pictures at the largest size Instagram holds for that account.

That largest size varies from account to account. The site gives 1080 x 1080 for most business, creator and verified accounts, 640 x 640 for ordinary personal accounts, and 320 x 320 for older profiles that uploaded a small picture years ago and never changed it. It does not upscale, and the Twastia page says plainly that any site promising more from a small upload is guessing at pixels.

How InstaFinsta Stays Off The Viewer List

Instagram adds a name to a story's viewer list when a logged in account opens it in the app or on the web. InstaFinsta's requests go out from its own server with no Instagram session attached, so there is no account for a view to be recorded against.

The site also takes on a long-running worry about screenshots. It notes that Instagram trialled a screenshot alert for stories in 2018 and dropped it before release. The only media that still alerts a sender is View Once and Vanish Mode content in direct messages, where a screen recording counts the same as a screenshot.

What InstaFinsta Keeps And What It Cannot Reach

The privacy policy describes a small footprint. A signed cookie called cid holds a random ID for 90 days so rate limits can be spread across sessions, and server logs with request times and IP addresses are kept for up to 14 days. There are no accounts, ad trackers or download histories.

To fetch the media, the server hands the pasted URL to a small set of third-party APIs. Those services receive the link and InstaFinsta's own IP address, the policy says, but not the user's.

The tools will not reach:

• Private accounts, including their posts, stories and highlights.
• Stories older than 24 hours that were never pinned to a highlight.
• Reels the creator deleted, once Instagram's 30 day Recently Deleted window has closed.
• Story replies, direct messages and accounts that have blocked the user.

Downloads also run one link at a time, and both the reel and audio pages list batch downloading as planned but not yet live. InstaFinsta states in its footer that it is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta.
