Learning Hall PH Turns DepEd Lessons Into a Free RPG Adventure for Filipino Grade Schoolers

SURIGAO CITY, Philippines - Learning Hall PH, a free web-based learning platform for Filipino grade schoolers, turns the DepEd MATATAG curriculum into a role-playing game that students choose to play on their own, instead of schoolwork parents have to enforce.

Built for students in Grade 2 through Grade 6, the platform maps each week's reading, math, typing, logic, and vocabulary lessons directly onto the current DepEd curriculum for the child's specific grade level. Rather than presenting that material as a standard quiz or worksheet, Learning Hall PH delivers it through quests, turn-based battles, a persistent world map, and a collectible "curio" system, giving children the same pull toward the app that they already feel toward the mobile and console games they choose to play. Parents create the family account and add their children to it; children then log in with a simple PIN rather than an open profile. There is no public sign-up, no advertising, and no way for a child to be contacted by anyone outside their own household.

"Homework time in our house had turned into a fight every single afternoon," said Rowil Ruelo, founder of Learning Hall PH. "The DepEd content was already there in the curriculum guide. What was missing was a reason for a kid to actually want to open the app instead of being told to."

Learning Hall PH was built as a solo project for Ruelo's own children before growing into a platform now used by families across the Philippines. The company is co-founded by Raphaelle Julien Ruelo, who leads marketing, community, and business operations, and is based in Surigao City, Surigao del Norte. Learning Hall PH is preparing to pilot the platform with a DepEd Special Science Elementary School later this year, its first formal school partnership, as part of a broader plan to bring the app into more public schools across the country.
