Family Identifies Demarcus Flemister Sr. as Victim of Fatal Phoenix Collision

August 24, 2026 - Phoenix, USA - The family of Demarcus Flemister Sr. is mourning his sudden death following the August 10 collision involving a Valley Metro bus in south Phoenix.
Demarcus leaves behind three children: 21-year-old Demarcus "DJay" Flemister Jr., an active-duty U.S. Army soldier completing Basic Combat Training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia; 19-year-old Demarianah "DeeDee" Flemister, who lives in San Diego, California; and his youngest son, Demarion.
Demarcus was also a deeply loved son and brother. His mother, Sharon Flemister; sister, Cortia Wong; brother, Courtney Wong; and extended family and friends are mourning this tremendous loss.
"Our priority is surrounding DJay and DeeDee with love and ensuring they have the support needed to grieve, make final arrangements and move forward without carrying this burden alone," the family said. "We are deeply grateful for every prayer, donation and expression of kindness."
A GoFundMe has been established to support DJay and DeeDee with final arrangements, multistate travel, memorial plans and continued family needs.
