Unlike a traditional coding competition, the JinIX Clinical Datathon focuses on clinical analysis. During the event, verified medical experts use JinIX's AI Health Navigator [https://app.jinix.com/health] to review consented patient health information, explore clinical questions, identify patterns and develop potential treatment directions that may be relevant to individual rare disease cases.
Patients then receive the resulting findings and can evaluate which insights they consider most helpful and actionable.

Rare disease patients often manage medical information across multiple providers, records, laboratory results and years of health history. The Clinical Datathon applies that model to a structured event in which patients remain directly involved in the process rather than simply contributing data.
How the Clinical Datathon Works for Patients
Patient participation is free and takes place online.
Participants first register with JinIX and connect relevant medical records, laboratory results and health history. A verified physician, researcher or medical specialist can then review the patient's case through JinIX and use the AI Health Navigator to explore clinical questions and identify potential treatment directions.
Once the analysis is completed, patients receive the expert findings in a structured format. They can review the patterns identified, possible directions worth exploring and other observations surfaced during the analysis.
Patients also participate in the evaluation process by voting on the findings they believe are most useful and relevant to their condition. Their feedback forms an important part of the Clinical Datathon's judging process.
As a thank-you for participating and exploring JinIX with their health records, patient participants can also receive a one-time $25 bonus reward after completing the participation process.
JinIX emphasizes that patients remain in control of their information throughout the event. Patients decide what information to share, who can access it and for how long, and they can withdraw their participation. Access to patient data by medical experts requires explicit patient consent.
$1,000 Prize Pool for Medical Experts
The Clinical Datathon also invites verified physicians, researchers, clinicians and medical specialists to participate as individual medical experts.
A total $1,000 prize pool will be awarded across four winners:

* 2nd Place - $300: Runner Up, recognizing strong analysis with meaningful patient benefit
* 3rd Place - $100: Third Place, recognizing solid clinical reasoning and clear patient relevance
* 4th Place - $100: Honorable Mention, recognizing a creative approach or unique patient perspective
Medical experts first register with JinIX and complete professional verification. Participants then receive access to the JinIX AI Health Navigator for the datathon period and use the platform to analyze authorized patient records or JinIX-provided sample datasets.
Experts interact with the AI Health Navigator to ask clinical questions, surface patterns and develop potential treatment directions. The workflow reflects JinIX's broader focus on clinical decision support for rare diseases, using structured patient histories and AI-assisted analysis to help specialists work through complex cases.
JinIX then generates a structured analysis report from the session, eliminating the need for a separate submission workflow.
Patients Help Determine What Makes an Insight Valuable
A distinguishing feature of the JinIX Clinical Datathon is the role patients play in judging the results.
Submissions are evaluated by JinIX leadership together with a Patient Judge Board made up of rare disease patients participating in the datathon.
Evaluation is based on four criteria:
* Patient acceptance and actionability - 30%: Whether the findings are useful to patients and provide a concrete next step
* Clinical insight depth - 25%: Whether the analysis connects patient data with meaningful treatment directions or disease insights
* Depth of JinIX engagement - 25%: How effectively the expert uses JinIX and provides useful feedback on the AI-assisted analysis process
* Clarity of communication - 20%: Whether the findings are explained in a way patients can understand and act on
By including patients directly in the evaluation process, the Clinical Datathon is designed to reward not only technical or clinical sophistication, but also findings that patients themselves consider understandable, relevant and useful.
Bringing More Expert Attention to Rare Disease Cases
For many people living with rare diseases, finding specialists with experience in a specific condition can be difficult. Relevant expertise may be distributed across institutions, specialties and research communities.
The JinIX Clinical Datathon is designed to create a structured way for patients to make their cases available to verified experts with their consent, while giving clinicians and researchers an opportunity to work through complex rare disease cases using AI-assisted clinical analysis.
