On September 18, 2026, Torsten Turinsky will perform at the legendary Bauer Studios in Ludwigsburg with a solo program that pushes the sonic boundaries of the acoustic guitar in extraordinary ways. With his 8-string guitar, he develops a musical language that uniquely combines rhythmic precision, sonic depth, and a commanding stage presence.

Torsten Turinsky studied jazz and rock guitar at the Zwickau Conservatory from a young age and has been playing 8-string guitars since 1998, for many years as part of a trio with saxophone and drums. Since around 2010, he has increasingly devoted himself to solo performance on the acoustic 8-string.

The instrument he uses is extraordinary in both its construction and its effect: in addition to five guitar strings, it features three true bass strings. This creates a sound that combines melodic lines, harmonic richness, and bass-like depth in a single voice. It often gives the impression that two musicians are on stage at the same time.

With the CD "Live im Museum, Torsten Turinsky Plays the Beatles," he translates the rhythm, harmony, and vocal polyphony of classic songs by the Fab Four into the solo language of his 8-string guitar. The arrangements remain faithful to the originals while simultaneously developing a distinctive instrumental style of their own.

Among the defining milestones of his career in recent years are three appearances at the NAMM Show in Los Angeles, the world's largest and most important music trade show, which attracts around 100,000 visitors. In October 2020, Turinsky also performed a concert in Glauchau in honor of John Lennon alongside the Original Quarrymen--John Lennon's first school band, featuring Rod Davis and Chas Newby--for whom he served as the opening act.

For about seven years, Torsten Turinsky has also been building cigar box guitars, which he incorporates into his musical work. This interest in craftsmanship and sound adds an additional, distinctive facet to his artistic profile.

The concert at Bauer Studios will be recorded in front of a live audience in a fully analog control room directly onto a stereo analog master--direct-to-analog 2-track. The resulting masters will form the basis for a record release using the half-speed mastering process.

Bauer Studios is considered Germany's most historic recording studio. In this converted movie theater, artists such as Keith Jarrett, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Chick Corea, Giora Feidman, and Yehudi Menuhin have recorded here. Thanks to its unique architecture, this venue also provides the setting for an exclusive concert and recording experience in front of a live audience.
