XTJ CNC Describes Sourcing Process for Precision Machined

Carmel, IN 46032, United States, 20th Aug 2026 - XTJ CNC, a well-known provider of precision CNC machining services, has outlined the sourcing process the company applies when coordinating the production of precision machined components through manufacturing facilities in China. The description covers the sequence of steps that follows an initial enquiry, including technical review, facility allocation, inspection procedures, and freight documentation. The company has released the information in response to enquiries from buyers seeking clearer visibility of how offshore machining orders are managed, an area that has drawn closer attention as procurement teams review supplier arrangements, lead times, and compliance records across international supply chains.

The process begins with a technical review of the drawings and specifications supplied by the customer. Engineering staff assess dimensional tolerances, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing callouts, material specifications, surface finish requirements, and any secondary operations noted on the drawing. Where a specified feature would be difficult or costly to produce as drawn, the customer receives manufacturability feedback before the order proceeds. XTJ CNC has indicated that this stage is intended to resolve ambiguities in documentation prior to production rather than after parts have been machined.

Following the technical review, the order is allocated to a facility whose equipment matches the process requirements of the component. Allocation considers the machining operations involved, which may include three-axis and five-axis milling, computer numerical control turning, wire electrical discharge machining, and surface treatment processes such as anodising, plating, and powder coating. Component geometry, batch size, and material type are assessed together, with the aim of matching each order to equipment capable of holding the tolerances specified.

Facilities used within the network are subject to a qualification procedure. This covers equipment registers, machine calibration records, quality management documentation, and inspection capability, together with sample production runs assessed against the customer drawing. Facilities that have completed qualification remain subject to periodic review, and performance data covering dimensional conformity and delivery timing is recorded against each order.

The sourcing process has been documented because buyers increasingly ask how an order is handled once it leaves the quoting stage, said Hafiz Pan, Director of Operations at XTJ CNC. Each stage produces a record, from the initial technical review through to the inspection report issued before shipment, and those records are available to the customer. Making the sequence transparent allows procurement teams to assess the arrangement against internal requirements rather than relying on assumptions about offshore production.

Inspection procedures form a defined part of the sequence. First article inspection reports are prepared for new components, with measurements taken using coordinate measuring machines, height gauges, and optical comparators depending on the feature being verified. In-process checks are conducted during production runs, and a pre-shipment inspection is completed before components are packed. Material certificates and, where applicable, heat treatment and plating certificates are compiled with the inspection documentation and issued alongside the shipment.

Logistics arrangements are handled after inspection is signed off. Components are packed according to their finish and fragility, with options including individual wrapping, foam inserts, and custom crating for larger assemblies. Freight is arranged by air or sea depending on the delivery schedule agreed at the order stage, and shipping documentation includes commercial invoices, packing lists, and tariff classification details required for customs clearance. Order updates are managed through a single point of contact operating in United States business hours, and drawing revisions are version controlled to prevent superseded files from entering production.

XTJ CNC accepts orders without minimum quantity requirements, covering prototype quantities, low-volume batches, and continuing production runs. Materials processed include aluminium, stainless steel, carbon steel, brass, copper, titanium, and engineering plastics such as PEEK, acetal, nylon, and polycarbonate. Components produced through the network are supplied to customers in the aerospace, automotive, electronics, and general industrial sectors, where documentation requirements and tolerance specifications vary between applications.

Procurement requirements around traceability and documentation are expected to remain a focus over the coming period, said Pan. The intention is to continue refining the inspection and reporting stages of the process as customer requirements develop, and to keep the facility qualification programme under regular review so that capability records remain current.

XTJ CNC operates from Carmel, Indiana, and coordinates machining work through an international production network. The company provides precision milling, turning, and rapid prototyping services for metal and plastic components, supplying custom parts to manufacturers across a range of industrial sectors. The documentation of its sourcing sequence is presented as an account of existing procedure rather than a change to the services offered.
