Knovos Launches Discovery Lite for Secure, Local eDiscovery and Digital Investigations

Press release from: Knovos

TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 19, 2026 - Knovos today announced the launch of Knovos Discovery Lite, a standalone eDiscovery and digital investigation application built for matters where evidence must stay local, investigations need to start immediately, or network access is restricted.

Knovos Discovery Lite runs the full investigation lifecycle from a laptop, desktop, or controlled local environment. Investigators can ingest and process collected data, search and review evidence, identify sensitive information, apply redactions, and prepare defensible productions - all without depending on continuous internet or cloud access.

This addresses a real gap in digital investigations. Evidence often originates at an incident location, inside a classified environment, on forensic media, or within networks where moving data to an external system isn't practical or permitted. Knovos Discovery Lite lets investigators start working with that data locally while maintaining the controlled access, auditability, and evidence handling practices the matter requires.

From collected data to reviewable evidence, in one environment
Knovos Discovery Lite supports forensic images, raw ESI, Microsoft 365 data, chat and social media data, scanned documents, and audio and video evidence. The application identifies more than 150 PII and PHI entity types, helping investigation teams flag and protect sensitive information during review.

Core capabilities include forensic image ingestion and culling, full-text and metadata search, multi-layer redaction (including audio/video transcript-based redaction), and structured, Bates-numbered production - with processing records and audit information maintained throughout the matter.

Knovos Discovery Lite also runs in offline and air-gapped environments, so organizations can keep sensitive evidence within the local investigation environment when connectivity, security policy, data sovereignty, or field conditions make cloud-based workflows unsuitable.

Designed for investigations where the environment matters
"Investigations don't always begin in environments where cloud access or reliable connectivity are available," said Dharmesh Shingala, Co-founder & CEO of Knovos. "Knovos Discovery Lite gives teams a controlled way to move from collected data to reviewable evidence locally, while preserving the auditability and production discipline that investigative and legal workflows require."

Knovos Discovery Lite is built for focused investigation environments - digital forensic teams, law enforcement, government agencies, secure site investigators, data breach response teams, and smaller legal or investigative groups that need local processing without deploying enterprise infrastructure.

It complements Knovos Discovery, the company's enterprise eDiscovery platform. Where Knovos Discovery supports large, connected, multi-team matters, Knovos Discovery Lite is built for local independence, field readiness, offline operation, and contained investigations.

Availability
Knovos will demonstrate Knovos Discovery Lite live at ILTACON 2026 (Aug. 23-27, Nashville) at booth #717. Organizations can also contact Knovos directly to discuss a proof-of-concept deployment, licensing, or a technical walkthrough.
