These additives provide thickening, thixotropy, anti-settling, sag resistance, suspension stability, and viscosity control. Commercial products are generally supplied as fine powders and measured by metric tons. Major applications include paints and coatings, printing inks, adhesives and sealants, lubricating greases, oil-based drilling fluids, construction chemicals, thermosetting resins, and selected personal-care formulations.
The upstream industrial chain includes bentonite, hectorite and other clay minerals, quaternary ammonium compounds, purification chemicals, processing equipment, drying energy, grinding systems, and packaging materials. Midstream production includes mineral purification, ion exchange, organic modification, filtration, drying, milling, particle-size classification, blending, quality inspection, and packaging. Downstream customers mainly include manufacturers of industrial and protective coatings, printing inks, adhesives, sealants, lubricating greases, drilling fluids, construction chemicals, thermosetting resins, and specialty chemical formulations. Technical services include product selection, dispersion optimization, polarity activation, dosage adjustment, viscosity control, anti-settling performance, sag resistance, storage stability, and formulation compatibility testing for different solvent and resin systems.
