China Footwear Matchmaking Event Connects Chinese Manufacturers With North American Buyers at MAGIC Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV - August 17, 2026 - The 2026 China Footwear Matchmaking Event brought together Chinese footwear manufacturers and North American buyers in Las Vegas this August, creating a platform for sourcing discussions, distribution partnerships and other business opportunities during MAGIC.

Hosted by the Trade Development Bureau of China's Ministry of Commerce and organized by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Light Industrial Products and Arts-Crafts, the event connected nearly 30 Chinese footwear companies with more than 50 North American buyers representing retail, distribution, e-commerce and professional sourcing channels. Total participation exceeded 100 industry representatives.

Participating companies came from major footwear production regions in China, including Guangdong, Zhejiang and Fujian. Products on display included fashion footwear, casual shoes, outdoor and athletic styles, as well as functional and safety footwear.

Business discussions focused on product selection, pricing, bulk orders, regional distribution and customized product development. The matchmaking sessions gave suppliers and buyers opportunities to discuss specific sourcing requirements and potential commercial partnerships.

The event was held in conjunction with MAGIC, a long-running U.S. trade show serving the fashion and footwear industries. Established in 1933, MAGIC brings together exhibitors, brands, retailers and professional buyers from international markets.

The United States remains a major footwear import market. According to U.S. customs data cited by the organizers, U.S. footwear imports totaled $27.19 billion in 2025. Imports from China were valued at $7.08 billion, accounting for 26.1% of the total.

China's footwear exports to the United States have declined somewhat in recent years amid changes in global sourcing patterns and trade policy. Organizers said Chinese manufacturers continue to serve the market across a broad range of product categories, with capabilities in original design, quality control and customized production.

In addition to face-to-face meetings, participating companies used MAGIC's Lead Insights platform to record buyer contacts and sourcing requirements. The information can support follow-up discussions involving samples, quotations, orders and potential partnerships after the event.

The program also included buyer outreach before the event, on-site meetings during MAGIC and continued communication afterward, allowing business discussions to extend beyond the exhibition floor.

Simon Ferguson, Executive Vice President of Fashion at Informa Markets, which organizes MAGIC, said Chinese-made footwear and apparel remain closely connected to everyday consumer life in the United States. He also noted that cooperation between U.S. brands and Chinese companies remains important and said he expects long-term commercial engagement between the two countries to continue.

Zhang Jie, Vice Chairman of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Light Industrial Products and Arts-Crafts, said the event was intended to support continued commercial cooperation between the Chinese and U.S. footwear industries while helping Chinese companies develop opportunities in North America and expand from product exports toward broader brand development.

Buyer feedback and market information collected during the Las Vegas program are expected to inform participating companies' future product development and supply-chain planning. The event also provided suppliers and buyers with additional opportunities to continue discussions after the show.
