A regional project to enhance Sicilian identity through intergenerational participation
Sicily, 2026 - Radici in Piazza - Sicily Edition officially begins, the cultural initiative that will involve Municipalities, Schools, Pro Loco associations, and cultural organizations across the entire region in a shared journey to rediscover and promote Sicilian identity.

The initiative, conceived and promoted by WebHouse Messina, introduces an innovative model of collaboration between institutions and local communities, transforming Sicilian towns and villages into true Local Identity Hubs, places where historical memory meets the digital language of younger generations.

A four-stage journey
The project runs from November 2026 to May 2027 and is structured into four phases:

Creation of the Territorial Network - Activation of collaboration among institutions and local communities.

Regional Conference and Digital Twinning - Students become speakers and engage in dialogue with other Sicilian towns.

Multimedia Identity Exhibition - Podcasts, QR codes, testimonies, and historical materials narrate the memory of the territory.

Roots Day - Regional Historical Parade - A major synchronized event across Sicily, with a live social broadcast at 12:00.

An inclusive and future-oriented project
Radici in Piazza adopts the principles of Design for All, ensuring accessibility for people with visual impairments through audio content and dedicated multimedia pathways.

The initiative is also aligned with the National Plan for Roots Tourism, contributing to the preparation of Sicilian territories for welcoming Italian-descendant visitors.

Invitation to local institutions
Municipalities, Schools, Pro Loco associations, and cultural organizations are invited to join the regional network of the project, contributing to the creation of a shared pathway for cultural and identity enhancement.
