Warsaw, July 29, 2026 - Protegra has published an in‐depth analysis on Protegra.pl examining Poland's continued failure to establish a functioning national framework to implement the Markets in Crypto‐Assets Regulation (MiCA). The article explains how the lack of a clear licensing route and operational authorization process for virtual‐asset service providers (VASPs) has created regulatory uncertainty for market participants and may prompt firms to restructure, suspend services, or relocate activities to jurisdictions with clearer licensing pathways. Protegra's review draws on recent developments at the national and EU level and highlights the practical consequences of having a harmonised regulation that lacks coherent domestic execution.

The publication emphasises that MiCA's promise of a single European rulebook depends on member states providing the institutional capacity, supervisory procedures, and transparent application routes required to make authorisations meaningful in practice. With the MiCA transitional period concluded, the absence of an effective national authorisation mechanism in Poland has immediate implications for compliance planning, contractual commitments, bank relationships, and cross‐border passporting. Protegra warns that these gaps undermine market confidence and may disadvantage Polish service providers in competition with firms headquartered in member states that have operational licensing regimes.

Protegra's analysis forms part of the firm's ongoing commentary on crypto regulation, CASP licensing, and European market developments. The full article and related commentary are available on Protegra.pl at: https://protegra.pl/blog/poland-the-country-that-failed-to-put-mica-into-practice-may-be-its-weakest-link
