AI Assistants Can Now Publish Websites Directly: Nippy Launches Remote MCP Connector for Claude and ChatGPT
The launch addresses a gap that has grown with the rise of AI-generated web content. Modern AI assistants can build a complete web page in seconds - Claude presents them as "artifacts", ChatGPT in its canvas view - but the result stays inside the chat application. Sharing it has meant screenshots, pasting raw code, or setting up developer-grade deployment tools.
"AI removed the hard part of making a website, but the last step - putting it somewhere - still assumed you were a developer," said Jamie Street, founder of Nippy. "With the connector, publishing is just another thing you ask the assistant to do. You get a real link you can send to anyone, and when you ask for changes, the same link updates in place."
How it works
The connector exposes fourteen publishing tools to the assistant over MCP, an open standard for connecting AI applications to external services. Authorisation uses OAuth: the user approves access once in the browser, and the assistant receives a deliberately limited token. It can create sites, update them and read files back - but permissions to delete a site, transfer it or touch billing do not exist in the token's scope and cannot be granted. Published sites are served over HTTPS at a nippy.site address, and updates keep the same URL, so a link that has already been shared keeps working.
For developers, the same integration is available locally: one command configures Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Cursor, and a command-line tool covers scripted use. The MCP server is listed in the official MCP registry and is open source on GitHub.
Availability
The connector is available now on all Nippy accounts, including the free plan, which hosts one live site of up to 25 MB with no card required. Paid plans add custom domains, visitor analytics, password protection and removal of the hosting banner, and every paid plan starts with a 7-day free trial.
