Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design President Brent Fitch Spotlights Creative Career Paths on Great Day Colorado
LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) brought its campus to a statewide audience this week when President Brent Fitch joined Great Day Colorado for a live, on-campus segment exploring how the school prepares students for careers in the creative industry.Jeff Schroeder, host of Great Day Colorado and Big Brother 11 alum, visited RMCAD to walk through the campus experience and talk with Fitch about the academic paths available to students who want to turn artistic talent into a professional future. The segment framed RMCAD as a destination for students weighing where to pursue art and design education, whether they prefer an in-person studio environment or the flexibility of learning online. Great Day Colorado is produced by Denver news station KDVR, which featured the full segment and an accompanying article on the visit. During the conversation, Fitch highlighted the breadth of programs available at RMCAD, from animation and illustration to interior design, game art and photography. The discussion underscored a point RMCAD emphasizes with prospective students: A creative career doesn't require choosing between passion and practicality. The college structures its curriculum around industry-relevant skills, portfolio development, and faculty with direct professional experience, giving students a clearer path from classroom to career. The Great Day Colorado feature also touched on RMCAD's flexibility for different types of learners. Students can explore the full range of undergraduate offerings across visual art, digital, and visual communication disciplines for both on-campus and online study. That flexibility has become an increasingly important factor for students who are balancing school with work, family, or geographic constraints with RMCAD's model is a direct response to that shift in how students expect to access higher education. "In the fall, we will welcome about 600 students, whether they are returning or new students, to campus," said Brent Fitch, President of RMCAD. "And then, we have almost 2,000 students that are going to be coming to school with us online starting in the fall."
The segment also gave viewers a look at campus life at RMCAD and the college's identity as a hands-on, studio-based environment where students work alongside working artists and designers. For a school built entirely around art and design education, exposure on mainstream local news extends the conversation about creative careers to families and prospective students who may not have already considered art school as the next step in their creative journey.
RMCAD said the appearance reflects an ongoing effort to make its programs more visible to prospective students across Colorado and beyond, particularly as more students research online and hybrid options for creative degrees. The college shared the Great Day Colorado feature across its social media channels following the broadcast.
