On the export front, South Korea, China, and Singapore are among the leading global PMMA exporters due to their well-established petrochemical and polymer processing industries. South Korea exported more than 95 kilo tons of PMMA to countries including China, India, the Netherlands, and the United States. Singapore exported around 57 kilo tons of PMMA, primarily to neighboring Asian countries such as China, India, Japan, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
PMMA Supply Analysis
Global PMMA production capacity exceeded 2,500 kilo tons in 2025, with Asia Pacific accounting for 58% of total installed capacity. Within the region, China is the largest manufacturer, possessing production capacity exceeding 700 kilo tons. Chongqing Shuangxiang Optical Materials Co., Ltd. is currently the largest PMMA producer globally, commissioning a 300 kilo tons facility in 2024. China continues to expand its PMMA manufacturing base through several planned projects, including a 100 kilo tons plant by Qixiang Tengda Chemical, a 180 kilo tons facility by Zhejiang Petrochemical expected by 2027, and additional 100 kilo tons plants by Chengdu Pengzhou Optical-grade PMMA Project and Nanjing Chengzhi Clean Energy, both scheduled to commence production by 2027.
In South Korea, Altuglas, Lotte MMA, and LG MMA Corporation collectively operate PMMA facilities with a combined capacity of 273 kilo tons. In Japan, Mitsubishi Rayon is the largest producer, operating two manufacturing facilities in Toyama and Otaki with a combined capacity of around 48 kilo tons. Meanwhile, Singapore Methyl Methacrylate Pte. Ltd. recently reduced its PMMA capacity from 150 kilo tons to 50 kilo tons to focus on specialty chemical products.
