LiTrue Launches a 495 Wh/kg Solid-State Anode-Free Battery Cell for eVTOL and UAV Platforms

LiTrue Power Technologies Co., Ltd., a China-based manufacturer of lithium battery cells and packs, has released the PE49N-EF, the newest cell in its Ultra-High Energy Density Solid-State Anode-Free series. The 49Ah pouch cell delivers 495 Wh/kg at a weight of just 375 grams, giving pack integrators a cell built for eVTOL aircraft, high-altitude UAVs, and satellite payloads, where every gram removed from the battery translates directly into additional range or payload capacity. The cell also operates across a -43C to 55C range, wider at the cold end than most liquid-electrolyte chemistries can support.

Conventional NMC pouch cells typically plateau between 250 and 300 Wh/kg, a ceiling driven largely by the graphite or silicon anode inside the cell rather than by the cathode chemistry itself. The PE49N-EF removes that anode entirely: lithium metal plates directly onto the bare current collector during the cell's first charge, while a solid electrolyte separator keeps that lithium stable and limits the dendrite growth that has historically constrained anode-free designs built on liquid electrolytes. The result is roughly double the specific energy of a comparable NMC cell in the same pouch format.

LiTrue is direct about the trade-off involved. The PE49N-EF is rated for 0.5C continuous charge and 3C continuous discharge, with 1C and 5C pulse limits, because the lithium-metal anode is sensitive to plating current at higher rates.
