India is gradually emerging as a domestic SAP producer. In 2022, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) commissioned a 200-ton demonstration plant at its Kochi Refinery. The company is currently evaluating process improvements with plans to expand production capacity to 20 kilo tons, with commercial operations expected to commence during 2027-2028.
