Consumer Alert: Why You Should Avoid Polykup and Ultimate Car Care in Fair Lawn
New Jersey Department of the Treasury documents show that Polykup Inc. - doing business as a mechanic/auto operation - only received its Certificate of Authority to operate in New Jersey on April 1, 2026. For years prior, the company (incorporated in New York since 2019) had no legal authority to transact business in the state, despite listing a Fair Lawn residential address as its main location and "MECHANIC, AUTOMOBILES" as its purpose. This exposes the operation to potential penalties under state law.
The New Jersey Auto Owners Association (NJAOA) has now formally referred evidence to authorities that Samuel Polyak allegedly drove a customer's silver Smart Fortwo Cabrio without permission after the vehicle was left with David Gutwill of Ultimate Car Care. Owner Andrea Feric confirmed no authorization was given.
This fits a disturbing pattern. The NJAOA has spent months protesting outside these businesses over the Acura NSX case involving an elderly stroke survivor.
Allegations include installation of recalled, fire-prone batteries instead of promised premium units, damage to the vehicle, and failure to return valuable original parts despite a court order - prompting motions for sanctions.
Polykup Inc. filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2026. Gutwill has prior felony convictions on record. Consumers report feeling pressured and misled.
