Vietnam is the world's second-largest coffee exporter after Brazil and the largest supplier of Robusta coffee, accounting for more than 40% of global Robusta supply. According to data from Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, the country exported approximately 154,635 tons of coffee in January 2026 alone, generating more than USD 1 billion in export revenue, an increase of over 100% in value compared to the same period last year. The average export price reached nearly USD 6,800 per ton, reflecting continued strong global demand for Vietnamese coffee.

Vietnam is currently the world's second-largest Robusta coffee exporter, accounting for roughly 40% of global Robusta supply. However, despite its production strength, the industry continues to face challenges related to fragmented supply chains, inconsistent data systems and limited traceability infrastructure.

These pressures are expected to intensify as the European Union moves toward full implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). Under the regulation, agricultural products imported into the EU, including coffee, must prove they are not linked to deforestation activities after December 31, 2020.

Industry experts believe these requirements will create significant challenges for farming regions that still rely heavily on smallholder production models and traditional manual record-keeping practices.

Gia Lai Selected as a Strategic Development Area

Driven by the ambition to digitize agriculture, Mr. Nguyen Duc Long, Founder and CEO of FarmBlock, spent significant time conducting field research before selecting Chu Puh district in Gia Lai as one of the company's strategic deployment areas.
