Rethinking Midlife: Julie Waas Challenges the 'Crisis' Narrative for Women Over 50
Miami, FL, Jun 19, 2026, ZEX PR WIRE - Conversations surrounding women over 50 often focus on decline, loss, or the idea of a "midlife crisis." Author and Coach Julie Waas, who previously practiced law for nearly four decades, is changing that perspective by encouraging women to see this stage of life as an opportunity for renewal, self-discovery, and intentional growth. After nearly four decades practicing law, Julie recognized that many women reach midlife carrying invisible pressure from years of professional demands, family responsibilities, and the constant pressure to meet expectations set by others. Rather than viewing this transition as something negative, she believes it can become a powerful period of reassessment and transformation.
Today, Julie works not only as a Certified High-Performance Coach, but also an author, artist, speaker, host of Midlife Unleashed with Julie Waas (YouTube) and advocate for women navigating the complexities of midlife. She has been guiding women through personal and professional transitions with a focus on clarity, confidence, and sustainable fulfillment. Through her coaching and writing, she encourages women to move away from outdated beliefs that equate aging with limitation.
Her work explores how women can:
- Reevaluate personal goals and priorities after years of caregiving or career focus
- Develop a stronger sense of identity outside traditional roles
- Replace fear of change with curiosity and self-trust
- Create healthier boundaries around time, energy, and expectations
- Build a future centered on authenticity and purpose
"Midlife is often treated like something women should fear," Julie says. "But for many women, it can actually become the first time they fully listen to themselves and ask what they truly want moving forward."
Julie's own journey reflects that philosophy. During a major life transition, she returned to a long-held interest in visual art and began building a new creative career. Her artwork later appeared in exhibitions across cities, including Miami, London, New York, Madrid, Milan, Venice, and Innsbruck.
The experience reshaped her understanding of reinvention and inspired her to help other women approach midlife from a place of possibility instead of uncertainty. She now works with women navigating evolving identities, career changes, empty-nest transitions, and shifting personal priorities.
A central part of Julie's message is that fulfillment has no expiration date. She believes many women have spent decades adapting themselves to external expectations and that midlife offers a chance to redefine success on their own terms.
Through her coaching practice and her book, The Midlife Reboot, Julie advocates for a more empowering conversation around aging-one rooted in growth, self-awareness, creativity, and emotional well-being.
For women questioning what comes next, Julie offers a perspective that contrasts sharply with the traditional "midlife crisis" narrative. This chapter of life may not be an ending at all, but the beginning of something far more aligned and meaningful.
