Entrepreneurs' Organization Colorado Marks 30 Years with a Night of Legacy, Leadership, and a Little Bit of the '90s
EO Colorado marks 30 years of transforming Colorado entrepreneurs into better leaders, better humans, and better community builder
The centerpiece of a full weekend of events, the dinner and gala in the Mountain View Pavilion honored three decades of entrepreneurial community through a program that opened with a governor's welcome, paid tribute to a beloved departing leader, unveiled a remarkable original art installation, and featured a fireside conversation with one of Colorado's most iconic entrepreneurs before giving way to a live band and a full-on '90s dance party.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis Opens the Celebration
The evening began with a video message from Colorado Governor Jared Polis, a founding member of EO Colorado and a member of the chapter's original Forum 1. His remarks anchored the night in the chapter's origins and set a tone of genuine gratitude for what the community has built across three decades.
The Wall of Presidents
EO member and artist Mike Arzt created the Wall of Presidents, a custom installation honoring all 31 of EO Colorado's past, current, and incoming chapter presidents. Each piece is a cross-section slice cut from a single tree that was felled by a recent Colorado windstorm, with every president's portrait laser-etched directly into the wood. The result is a striking visual record of the chapter's full leadership history, displayed across a row of richly grained, ring-marked slices from one shared source.
As Arzt wrote in his tribute to the installation: "All these slices come from one tree. They have weathered the storms, the floods, the droughts and the lightning together. Together they were incredibly strong yet flexible." He observed that since being cut, the slices have shed half their weight, developed unexpected cracks, and continue to evolve unpredictably, much like the entrepreneurs they represent.
Honoring Nanette Schunk
The chapter paused to recognize retiring Executive Director Nanette Schunk, who guided EO Colorado's operations for 14 years. A video tribute woven from photographs spanning her tenure gave members and alumni a chance to reflect on the steady, behind-the-scenes leadership she provided across more than a dozen presidential terms, hundreds of events, and the full arc of the chapter's growth into the community it is today.
Verne Harnish Introduces Brad Feld
Entrepreneurs' Organization founder Verne Harnish appeared by video to introduce Brad Feld, a founding member of both EO Colorado and EO Boston and the only person in EO's history to have started two chapters.
Feld then joined Patrick Condon, EO Colorado's 7th President, for a fireside chat that traced the chapter's roots in the YEO Boulder days, explored the evolution of Colorado's entrepreneurial ecosystem, and reflected on what three decades of community building actually looks like from the inside. At the close of the conversation, Brad invited several founding members from EO Colorado's original Forum 1 and Forum 2 to take the stage, offering the room a rare firsthand account of what it looked like when this community was just getting started.
Then: Dancing
After dinner and conversation, a live band took the stage and the dance floor came to life with the '90s hits that soundtracked the decade EO Colorado was born. The celebration continued late into the evening at Embers Lodge Bar, where the connection and conversation kept going long after the band took its final bow.
A Weekend, Not Just a Night
Saturday's gala was the centerpiece of a three-day gathering that also included a casual Friday evening happy hour and dinner at the Gaylord, a Saturday pool party on the lazy river, and a Sunday farewell brunch at the Copper Table, giving the broader EO Colorado community every opportunity to reconnect across the full weekend.
