He went further, laying out what he described as non-negotiable in his approach to every space he designs. "Empathy is non-negotiable. It should think about its occupant. How have I improved the life of my occupant? Be it a residence, be it an office, be it a factory - before I designed it and after I designed it, what is the impact I have left behind?" Mr. Mistry also spoke about his conscience around ecological responsibility. "The usage of materials should work on my conscience, on the ecological impact I am going to leave behind, the kind of carbon footprint I am going to leave behind. The weight of that impact is always at the back of my mind. These are non-negotiable for me."
