Castatus Adds Live Video Reception to Castatus Visitor Manager

Castatus today launched Castatus Virtual Assistant, a new feature of Castatus Visitor Manager that turns any unattended kiosk into live, on-demand video reception. With one tap, a visitor at an empty front desk is connected face-to-face - over two-way video and audio - to a real member of the team, who can answer from wherever they work.

An unattended lobby is both a security gap and a weak first impression. Virtual Assistant closes that gap without adding a hire. When a visitor taps "Call for Help," the first available team member is connected in seconds - at a desk, on the floor, or working from home. One person on call can cover several entrances, multiple buildings, and every hour of the day.

"An empty desk shouldn't mean a visitor is left guessing," said Paul Jaramillo, CEO of Castatus. "Virtual Assistant puts a real person on screen in seconds, so even an unstaffed entrance still feels welcoming and secure."

Unlike chatbots or callback queues, Virtual Assistant is genuine two-way video built on an enterprise WebRTC platform, with HD video, echo-cancelled audio, and a token-secured channel for every call. The call stays connected as the visitor moves through check-in, so they can keep talking while entering their details or taking their check-in photo.

Coverage is designed to fit how teams work. There's no app to install for visitors or staff - staff answer from any browser on desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone via a one-click, secure link. Coverage is split into Before Hours, During Hours, and After Hours, each with its own staff and notifications. Every eligible team member is alerted at once across your configured channels, with options including email, SMS, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Desktop Alerts, and SafeStatus. The first to answer takes the call while everyone else sees it was handled. When no one is available, the kiosk shows a custom message and logs the gap instead of leaving the visitor with dead air.

A real-time call log tracks every call - pending, in progress, completed, missed, or abandoned - and is filterable, searchable, and exportable. Calls unanswered for two minutes are automatically marked "Missed" and feed reporting so teams can close coverage gaps. Each call captures who answered, when, and a transcript for the audit trail, while access and per-station camera/mic controls keep configuration in the right hands.

Castatus Virtual Assistant is part of the Enterprise edition of Castatus Visitor Manager and can be switched on per station, making it easy to pilot one entrance before a wider rollout. Learn more at https://castatus.com/virtualassistant.
