Hainan Foreign Language School Affiliated to BFSU - Lin Dan International Badminton Education Center breaks ground

On May 17, 2026, a major milestone in the integration of sports and education was marked in the Hainan Free Trade Port as the groundbreaking ceremony and project launch meeting for the BFSU Hainan Foreign Language School - Lin Dan International Badminton Education Center was held in Chengmai County, Hainan. As the world's first and China's only international badminton education project of its kind, the center represents an innovative model combining international education with elite sports training.

Top-Tier Guests Gather to Celebrate a New Era of Sports-Education Integration

The event assembled elite representatives from government bodies, enterprises, educational institutions and the sports industry. Distinguished guests in attendance included Mr. Lu Zhiyuan, President of Hainan Charity Federation; Mr. Lin Dan, Olympic Badminton Champion and Double Grand Slam Winner; Mr. Xu Tao, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Chengmai County Committee and County Mayor of Chengmai County; Ms. Xie Xingfang, World Badminton Champion; Mr. Ding Hao, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Beijing Foreign Studies University; Mr. Meng Ziyan, Member of the Leading Party Members' Group and Deputy Director-General of Hainan Provincial Department of Education; Mr. Hong Jiayun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Hainan Sports Vocational and Technical College under Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television, Sports, as well as other leading officials and guests. A Landmark Investment of 700 Million RMB with World-Class Facilities

With a total investment of 700 million RMB and a campus area of 115 mu, the project will include both academic and professional training facilities. The badminton complex alone represents an investment of 180 million RMB and will feature two professional training halls, nearly 100 international-standard courts, a sports performance and fitness center, rehabilitation facilities, a temperature-controlled swimming pool, and a Lin Dan Champions Hall. The center will accommodate up to 1,200 students from primary to high school level, offering a seamless balance between academics and elite athletic training. Guided by the philosophy of "integrating sports and education, combining Chinese and international perspectives, cultivating both character and excellence," the school aims to create a dual-track development model for academic achievement and professional badminton training.

Dual-Track Education and Diverse Pathways for Future Development

Students will benefit from a comprehensive pathway system that supports domestic university entrance, international higher education opportunities, and professional sports development. The training program will be led by national-level coaches and will incorporate Lin Dan's signature "Dan-Style Training Method," alongside courses in physical conditioning, sports rehabilitation, and nutrition.

The event also featured a special calligraphy presentation and groundbreaking ceremony, symbolizing the official start of construction. Together with Ng Ka Long, they also delivered an exciting exhibition match, inspiring students with the spirit of perseverance and excellence.
