EU Marketplace for Pre-Owned Perpetual CAD Licenses

Aachen, Germany - 13 May 2026. A new EU-wide online marketplace, cad-software.eu, has launched, giving engineers, architects, manufacturers and designers across the European Union access to genuine pre-owned perpetual licenses for the industry's most widely used CAD and CAM software - legally traded under EU law, offered well below the prices of new licenses, and free from any subscription commitment.
The catalogue focuses on the three vendors that dominate professional design software in Europe: Autodesk (AutoCAD, Inventor, 3ds Max), Dassault Systèmes (SolidWorks, CATIA) and Nemetschek (Vectorworks, Allplan). Each listing specifies version, edition and licensing terms, along with documentation of legal provenance.
A defining feature of cad-software.eu is that the marketplace lists exclusively perpetual licenses. Subscription-based licensing, which has come to dominate the new-license market, is intentionally absent.
"Perpetual licenses give our customers something subscriptions cannot: certainty," said Dipl.-Kfm. Dirk Lynen, Managing Director of cad-software.eu. "When you buy a perpetual license through us, the software is yours. No renewal cycle, no risk of being priced out of your own toolset."
The platform's business model is grounded in established EU law. In its 2012 judgment in UsedSoft v. Oracle (Case C-128/11), the European Court of Justice held that the exhaustion principle in Article 4(2) of Directive 2009/24/EC applies regardless of whether software is delivered on physical media or by download. Once a publisher has authorised the first sale of a copy inside the EEA, the buyer may resell the license to a new user.
For each license, cad-software.eu documents the chain of ownership and confirms that previous holders have permanently uninstalled the software - a key requirement of the UsedSoft judgment. Buyers receive full transfer documentation.
