McDowell started InfaCity LLC in 2007 to reduce the crazy-making stress involved with planning a wedding. She created InfaCity LLC as an auction site exclusively for wedding products and services as a one stop shop to all things wedding.
McDowell is an MBA candidate who runs InfaCity LLC from her home so she can keep a close eye on her two little daughters.
She says the most fun part of running her business is, "At the end of the day, I know I have made someone else's life a little easier. And in working and communicating with people, I learn something new everyday about myself."
She plans to add a wedding community blog to her site, www.infacity.com, so that soon-to-be brides and married women can share ideas and thoughts on marriage and wedding experiences.
Wanda McDowell credits her husband, Chris, and her kids for inspiring her to go into business for herself.
Her advice to other individuals who are thinking of starting their own business is: "If you want your business to be successful, stays organized, focused, and keep your eye on the prize. If you fail the first time don't give up on your dream. Treat your failure as a learning experience so you will not repeat your mistakes the second time."
