2) Revenue results of major public companies in Indonesia summarized (per company)
PT Buyung Poetra Sembada Tbk (HOKI) reported Q3 2025 (9M 2025) sales of approximately IDR 824.7 billion (around USD 52 million), compared with IDR 1.06 trillion in the prior-year period. The company posted a small net loss of roughly IDR 369 million after earlier profitability pressure linked to raw material volatility and softer premium rice demand.
PT FKS Food Sejahtera Tbk (AISA) delivered stronger profitability in Q3 2025. Nine-month sales reached about IDR 1.46 trillion (approximately USD 92 million), while net income increased to around IDR 70.9 billion from IDR 47.3 billion a year earlier. Growth was supported by staple-food demand and stronger processed-food sales.
PT Wilmar Cahaya Indonesia Tbk (CEKA) reported 9M 2025 sales of around IDR 7.0 trillion (approximately USD 442 million), up substantially year-over-year. Net income reached roughly IDR 160.1 billion despite softer margins versus the previous year. The company benefited from resilient edible oil and food ingredient demand.
PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk (INDF) remained Indonesias dominant staple-food conglomerate in Q3 2025, supported by strong noodle, flour, agribusiness, and packaged food sales. Rice-linked demand through food staples and distribution remained stable as consumer purchasing power improved modestly in urban areas.
PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk (ICBP) maintained strong Q3 2025 momentum from mass-market packaged foods, including products tied closely to rice consumption patterns. Margin stability improved due to normalization of commodity input costs and improved operational efficiency.
PT Tunas Baru Lampung Tbk (TBLA) continued expanding downstream food and agricultural processing operations. The company benefited from stronger domestic food demand and relatively stable agricultural commodity pricing during the quarter.
PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk (JPFA) food-distribution and agricultural ecosystem exposure helped support stable Q3 2025 performance. Improved poultry-feed efficiency and consumer food demand contributed to better profitability across several divisions.
PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Tbk (CPIN) delivered resilient Q3 2025 earnings supported by integrated food supply chains, strong feed demand, and broader staple-food consumption growth in Indonesias domestic market.
PT Prasidha Aneka Niaga Tbk (PSDN) benefited from export-oriented agricultural processing and stronger commodity trading activities during Q3 2025, although margin pressure remained due to logistics and financing costs.
PT Sekar Bumi Tbk (SKBM) maintained stable processed-food demand during Q3 2025. The company continued focusing on efficiency improvements and value-added food processing products targeting modern retail channels.
3) Key trends & insights from Q3 2025
Indonesia recorded historically high rice inventories during 2025, improving domestic supply stability.
Branded packaged rice continued gaining market share over loose traditional-market rice products.
Public companies with integrated distribution networks outperformed smaller regional millers.
Margin pressure persisted due to packaging, freight, and energy expenses.
Food-security policies and BULOG procurement programs supported industry stability.
Consumer demand shifted toward affordable mid-tier rice products rather than premium imported varieties.
Companies with diversified downstream food portfolios showed stronger resilience than pure rice processors.
Modern retail and e-commerce channels continued expanding packaged-rice penetration.
Agricultural digitization and supply-chain traceability became increasingly important among larger listed firms.
Manufacturing growth in Indonesia accelerated during several quarters of 2025, supporting broader food-sector industrial activity.
4) Outlook for Q4 2025 and beyond
Indonesias rice and staple-food sector is expected to remain defensive and relatively resilient.
Lower commodity volatility may support margin recovery for rice processors in late 2025 and 2026.
Government food-security initiatives are expected to continue encouraging domestic rice production.
Packaged and branded rice consumption is projected to rise steadily in urban Indonesia.
Companies investing in milling automation and logistics efficiency are likely to outperform peers.
Integrated food conglomerates may continue consolidating smaller rice-processing assets.
ESG-focused agricultural sourcing and traceability are expected to become more important for exporters and institutional investors.
Consumer demand for healthier rice variants such as low-GI rice, fortified rice, and organic rice is expected to expand gradually.
Export opportunities for specialty rice products may improve as ASEAN food trade strengthens.
Indonesias broader food manufacturing sector is likely to remain one of the countrys most stable industrial segments into 2026.
5) Conclusion
The Indonesian rice industry in Q3 2025 demonstrated resilience despite cost inflation and ongoing supply-chain pressures. Publicly listed companies with strong brands, diversified product portfolios, and integrated food ecosystems delivered the best overall performance. While pure-play rice processors experienced more volatile profitability, larger food conglomerates benefited from broader consumer staple demand and operational scale. Looking ahead, continued government support for food security, modernization of rice distribution, and rising demand for packaged rice products are expected to strengthen the long-term outlook for Indonesias publicly listed rice-related companies.
