Texas Pecan Cakes Establishes Austin as the Source for Authentic Mail-Order Pecan Cakes Nationwide

The bakery produces its cakes in small batches using Texas-grown Pawnee and Cheyenne pecans sourced from Goldthwaite, Texas. Every cake is made with pure Grade A maple syrup, pure Mexican vanilla, Imperial Dark Brown Sugar, and unbleached flour - no hydrogenated oils, no high-fructose corn syrup, and no preservatives.
"We make one product, and we make it the right way," said Scott McGee, who acquired Texas Pecan Cakes with his wife Carrie in 2024. "The recipe that Lorraine McCoy built in Refugio is still the recipe we bake today - the same ingredients, the same standard."
Unlike most baked goods, Texas Pecan Cakes are shelf-stable for 21 days at room temperature - a result of ingredient quality, not preservatives. The cakes ship frozen, thaw cleanly at room temperature, and hold their texture and flavor through transit. They can also be frozen for up to 12 months in the original packaging.
The bakery ships nationwide via UPS, FedEx, and USPS Priority in 1-3 business days from Austin. Orders over $50 qualify for free ground shipping. Multi-address shipping is available, making the cakes a practical choice for corporate gifting and holiday orders.
Texas Pecan Cakes won the 2017 H-E-B Quest for Texas Best award in the Bakery category, placing first among 600 entrants in one of the most competitive statewide food competitions in Texas. The recipe traces through four ownership groups - from Lorraine McCoy's Refugio kitchen to Will McCoy's Bertram bakery, through the Malone family's expansion, to the current McGee family operation in Austin.
Year-round flavors include Original Pecan Cake, Pecan Halves, Chocolate Chip and Butter Toffee Pecan Cake. Seasonal offerings include Chocolate Pecan, Pumpkin Pecan, and Gingerbread Pecan.
