Dental Finesse Brings World-Class Periodontal Treatment to Kolkata, Addressing the City's Growing Gum Disease Crisis

KOLKATA, May 2026 - Dental Finesse, one of Kolkata's most trusted specialist dental practices, today announced the expansion of its comprehensive periodontal treatment services, responding to a significant and largely unaddressed public health need in the city. With an estimated 70 to 80 percent of Indian adults showing some form of gum disease, the clinic is positioning itself as the destination of choice for patients seeking advanced periodontal treatment in Kolkata.
Operating from its state-of-the-art facility, Dental Finesse now offers a full spectrum of periodontal (gum) treatments - from non-surgical deep cleaning and curettage to laser-assisted periodontal therapy, bone grafting, and surgical flap procedures - all delivered under one roof by highly trained MDS specialists.

The Periodontal Health Crisis in Kolkata
Periodontal disease - the advanced form of gum infection that destroys the bone and tissue supporting teeth - is one of the most prevalent yet undertreated dental conditions across India. In Kolkata, lifestyle factors including widespread tobacco use, diets rich in refined carbohydrates, irregular dental visits, and limited public awareness of gum health have contributed to a silent epidemic of untreated gum disease.
Left unmanaged, periodontitis does not just cause tooth loss. An extensive body of research now links chronic periodontal infection to systemic conditions including cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled diabetes, adverse pregnancy outcomes, and respiratory illness. Despite this, many Kolkata residents seek dental care only when pain becomes unbearable - often too late for conservative intervention.
Dental Finesse was founded with a clear mission: to change this pattern by making specialist-level periodontal treatment in Kolkata available, affordable, and approachable for every patient who walks through its doors.

A Full Spectrum of Periodontal Treatment Services
Dental Finesse now offers the following periodontal and gum-related treatments as part of its expanded care offering:
Scaling and Root Planing (Deep Cleaning) - the gold-standard non-surgical first-line treatment for early to moderate periodontitis
Subgingival Curettage - targeted removal of infected tissue from gum pockets to facilitate healing
Periodontal Flap Surgery - surgical access to deep bone and root surfaces for thorough debridement
Bone Regeneration and Grafting - restoring lost alveolar bone in patients with advanced periodontitis
Gum Grafting (Soft Tissue Grafting) - treating gum recession and protecting exposed tooth roots
Laser-Assisted Periodontal Therapy - minimally invasive, precise treatment of infected gum tissue with faster recovery
Antimicrobial and Antibiotic Adjunctive Therapy - targeted elimination of periodontal pathogens
Supportive Periodontal Maintenance - structured long-term monitoring to prevent disease recurrence
Every treatment plan is developed following a thorough clinical examination, periodontal charting, and digital X-ray assessment, ensuring that each patient receives precisely the level of care their condition requires.

Statement from Dr. Debarghya Pal, BDS, MDS (WBUHS)
"Periodontal disease is a public health issue that Kolkata cannot afford to ignore any longer. We see patients every week who have lived with bleeding gums, mobile teeth, and chronic bad breath for years - dismissing these as normal - when in reality they are warning signs of a serious, progressive infection. Our goal at Dental Finesse is to intervene early, treat comprehensively, and educate every patient so that they leave our clinic not just treated, but empowered to maintain their gum health for life." - Dr. Debarghya Pal, BDS, MDS (WBUHS), Dental Finesse

Statement from Dr. Farha Nasim, BDS, MDS (WBUHS)
"What excites me most about the expansion of our periodontal services is the opportunity to reach patients who have previously been told they need extractions when, in fact, with the right treatment, their teeth can be saved. Modern periodontal treatment in Kolkata has come a long way. With laser therapy, regenerative procedures, and evidence-based protocols, we can achieve outcomes that simply were not possible a decade ago. Our patients deserve access to that level of care." - Dr. Farha Nasim, BDS, MDS (WBUHS), Dental Finesse

Why Patients Choose Dental Finesse for Periodontal Treatment in Kolkata
Dental Finesse differentiates itself from general dental practices in several key ways:
Specialist Credentials: Both treating dentists hold MDS postgraduate degrees from the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS), with specialisation relevant to periodontal and restorative care
Comprehensive Diagnosis: Every patient receives a full periodontal assessment before any treatment begins - no shortcuts, no assumptions
Advanced Technology: Digital radiography, ultrasonic scaling equipment, and laser dentistry capabilities allow for more precise, less invasive treatment
Patient-Centred Approach: Treatment is performed under local anaesthesia with a focus on patient comfort; anxious patients are accommodated with additional care and time
Transparent Communication: Patients receive a full written treatment plan with clear explanations before any procedure commences
Ongoing Maintenance: The clinic's structured recall system ensures that treated patients are monitored regularly to prevent relapse
Accessible Location: Conveniently located for patients across Kolkata's diverse neighbourhoods

The Broader Health Case for Periodontal Treatment
Dental Finesse's clinical team emphasises that periodontal treatment is not a cosmetic or purely dental concern - it is a medical necessity for millions of Indians.
Published research consistently demonstrates bidirectional relationships between periodontal disease and conditions such as Type 2 diabetes, coronary artery disease, hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis, and chronic kidney disease. Pregnant women with untreated periodontitis face significantly elevated risks of preterm birth and low birth weight.
By making high-quality periodontal treatment in Kolkata more accessible, Dental Finesse aims to contribute to better systemic health outcomes for its patients - not just healthier mouths.
