Algesiologikum expands IMST Quality Agreement to a broad network of Health Insurers
Munich, May 5, 2026 - What is new for many facilities has been at the core of the Algesiologikum Center for Pain Therapy Munich's therapeutic mission since its founding in 2008. The Algesiologikum Day Clinic for Pain Medicine announces that the forward-looking quality agreement for interdisciplinary multimodal pain therapy (IMST) has now been expanded to a significantly broader network of 18 health insurance providers.Quality is not a new promise, but a tradition
While the contract, initiated by the German Pain Society (Deutsche Schmerzgesellschaft e.V.) as well as BARMER and TK, aims to set new standards nationwide, the Algesiologikum sees this as confirmation of its long-standing approach. _"The quality criteria required by the agreement--such as the close integration of medicine, psychotherapy, and exercise therapy, as well as comprehensive documentation--have been standard practice at our outpatient clinic for pain medicine for years,"_ said Dr. Marc Seibolt, Chief Physician of the facility. The integration of the formal contractual requirements therefore fit seamlessly into the existing, high-quality treatment processes.
A strong signal for pain patients in Munich
The decisive innovation for patients in the region is the enormous range of health insurers now participating. With the addition of numerous other health insurance providers, including DAK-Gesundheit and a large group of company health insurance funds (BKK), this high standard of care is now available to an even larger number of insured individuals.
The participating health insurance providers now include:
* Alternative health insurance funds: BARMER, Techniker Krankenkasse (TK), DAK-Gesundheit.
* BKK Group: Audi BKK, BKK Faber-Castell & Partner, BKK Linde, BKK Pfalz, BKK ProVita, BMW BKK, Bosch BKK, Mercedes-Benz BKK, mhplus BKK, Novitas BKK, Salus BKK, SBK Siemens Betriebskrankenkasse, vivida BKK.
* Other partners: IKK Suedwest, BIG direkt gesund.
Scientific monitoring as standard
Systematic documentation in the KEDOQ pain registry remains a central component. The Algesiologikum Day Clinic for Pain Medicine thus continues to make an active contribution to the scientific evaluation of multimodal therapy outcomes within the nationwide network, which has now grown to 26 locations.
Common Goal: Quality of Life and Participation
The focus of the intensified care is clearly on the measurable improvement of patients' daily lives. By reducing fear of movement and through targeted physical activation, patients are not only intended to alleviate pain but, ideally, also to maintain or regain their ability to work.
_"From the very beginning, our goal was to pave the way for patients to return to an active life--without the years-long odyssey that many pain patients have endured,"_ explains Dr. Marc Seibolt. _"The fact that so many health insurance companies are now consistently following this path of quality with us sends a strong signal for the entire healthcare system in Munich. It shows that quality and a valid data foundation are prevailing to raise pain medicine to a new level in a sustainable way."_
With the expansion of the health insurance network, the Algesiologikum Day Clinic for Pain Medicine is consolidating its role as one of the leading institutions for specialized pain therapy in southern Germany and is consistently continuing its path as a pioneer of modern care standards.
