Brother and Sister Team Launch Free Website for Seattle Events
An independent sibling duo announces the launch of SudoPole.com, a free website for the Seattle events community. An open invitation website launch party will be held at the Mainstage Comedy and Music Club, next to Key Arena, on Sunday, June 1st.Seattle, WA – The Seattle events community has gained a unique resource with the launch of SudoPole.com, a free website for events in the greater Puget Sound region. The site is designed to bring the diversity, cost-free advertising, and visual influence of a poster covered telephone pole to a broader online audience. The creators hope the public will post a variety of events including music, comedy, garage sales, sports, festivals or anything else typically found on telephone poles.
The grassroots website was co-created by Zi Krostag and Kira Krostag, a brother and sister team. By day, Zi and Kira are professional website developers for a variety of non-profit organizations, government entities, and small businesses. After hours, over a period of three months they developed and launched SudoPole.com as a personal project.
The website was conceptualized during a discussion between Zi and Kira that revealed difficulties they both were having finding local events. “I am terrible at planning ahead. I usually ended up spending Friday nights alone, at home, on my computer looking for something to do”, says Kira. Zi adds, “The idea of the online telephone pole really appealed to us because it’s something that’s real that people see everyday. I was new to the city, and I didn’t know what to do or where to go. I remember walking around and seeing a variety of events that I wanted to attend posted on telephone poles”. The resulting idea transformed into an online pseudo telephone pole for events, appropriately named SudoPole.
The goal of the site is to provide a valuable resource that will encourage Seattle entertainment providers to better communicate with their audience. It is a common myth that Seattle lacks entertainment as compared to other major US cities. The fact is that Seattle has a very active entertainment scene with hundreds of events happening every day. The problem is that very few people actually know about them.
SudoPole.com specializes in serving last minute event finders by displaying daily events on the homepage. Each day, events are automatically removed and the next day’s events appear. From the homepage visitors may also browse events by date, search for keywords, subscribe to RSS feeds, or choose to have future events automatically emailed. Even more unique, the website utilizes “web 2.0” technology allowing publishers to position their event by dragging and dropping their event posters onto the “pole”.
The Krostags intend to stay on the cutting edge of internet technology by continually developing tools that will allow visitors to spend less time looking for events and more time attending events.
The new site hopes to become a centralized location for publishing events by automatically submitting SudoPole events to a variety of other websites simultaneously. “If this works out in Seattle, we plan on launching the SudoPole in multiple cities worldwide”, said Zi.
To celebrate the creation of SudoPole.com a press-release and launch party will be on Sunday June 1st at 6pm at the Mainstage Comedy and Music Club. As an added bonus, Lazybones, an energetic Seattle groove-fusion band has volunteered to entertain the crowd. The party will also feature comedians, event networking, prize drawings, an open-mic session for event promoters, and a website presentation from the co-creators. The launch party is an open invitation for networking, entertainment, and to encourage involvement with the website and the event community as a whole. Tickets are available for $10 at the door or RSVP through SudoPole.com.
