LONG BEACH, CA - April 23, 2026 - Mooney's Pizza Tavern (8105 E.
Wardlow Road, Long Beach) invites the community to its Grand Safe
Opening on Sunday, May 3rd, a one-of-a-kind event celebrating the
opening of a 60-year-old safe discovered during the restaurant's
construction, along with the launch of permanent weekend hours.
The event is walk-in only with no reservations required and is open to
the public. Guesfts can purchase raffle tickets for $5 each for a
chance to win the contents of the safe (or free pizza for a year if
nothing is in the safe).
All raffle proceeds go directly to Casa Youth Shelter in Los Alamitos,
a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing emergency temporary shelter for youth
aged 12 to 17 who are homeless, abused, or in crisis. Tickets are

"We found this safe when we were building the restaurant and figured -
why not make opening it a party?" said Hal Mooney, owner of Mooney's
Pizza Tavern. "And if we can raise some money for Casa Youth Shelter
while we do it, even better."
Mooney's is also announcing the launch of dedicated weekend hours
starting May 3rd: Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 10pm. The expanded
schedule reflects growing demand from the Long Beach community and
gives families and pizza lovers a full-day option every weekend.
