TEMPEST Final Event to Showcase Next-Generation Battery Innovations for Transport
Bordeaux, France - 14 April 2026. - TEMPEST, an EU-funded research and innovation project, will host its Final Event on Friday, 24 April 2026, from 09:30 to 13:00 CET at the Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine in Brussels, in a hybrid format enabling both in-person and online participation.The TEMPEST project is developing a new generation of safe-by-design, recyclable, high-performance, and lightweight batteries for a wide range of transport applications. The project will validate its technologies through three demonstrator battery types: compact, large-scale, and stationary.
The Final Event will present the project's key outcomes and achievements, highlighting TEMPEST's contribution to advancing sustainable battery technologies and supporting Europe's transition towards cleaner mobility.
The event will open with remarks from the project coordinator, Jeremy Warren (Applus+ Rescoll), who will present the project vision and objectives. Technical presentations from consortium partners will follow, covering key areas such as manufacturing approaches and results, as well as recycling and reuse strategies.
A dedicated session will focus on the EU-INGENIOuS clustering initiative, bringing together TEMPEST and related projects to discuss advances in safe-by-design, sustainable battery solutions and their relevance for European research and industry. The programme will conclude with a panel discussion and closing remarks, followed by a networking lunch, offering participants the opportunity to engage with stakeholders, policymakers, and project partners.

Led by RESCOLL, TEMPEST is made up by ABEE, Fraunhofer, IAAPS, the Kemijski inštitut - National Institute of Chemistry. Tekniker, the Universities of Kaunas, Patras, and Bath, Sustainable Innovations. This project has received €3,614,902.50, is co-funded by the European Union under grant agreement 101103681 and UKRI - UK Research and Innovation under the UK government's Horizon Europe, under grant agreement 10075481.
