PREPARE 2031: Ten external pressure points. Ten StartLabs. A clear course of action.

PREPARE 2031 identifies ten key pressure points to which companies must find answers by 2031. ( (C) LACON Consulting GmbH)
Why Companies Need Clarity Now
Langenargen. AI is transforming value creation. Markets are becoming more unpredictable. Supply chains are becoming more fragile. Skilled workers are becoming scarcer. Cyberattacks are on the rise. Regulation is becoming more stringent. Many companies sense that these issues are no longer isolated from one another. They simultaneously impact business, pace, risk, and organization.
These developments do not exist in isolation. They are intertwined and are transforming value creation, market logic, organization, roles, and parts of the business model. This is precisely why it is no longer sufficient to address individual issues separately. Companies must respond in a more comprehensive, interconnected, and entrepreneurial manner.
What PREPARE 2031 Delivers
This is exactly where PREPARE 2031 comes in. The new StartLab series from LACON Consulting is aimed at companies that no longer want to merely categorize external pressures, but rather use them to make clear decisions and take concrete action. The series comprises ten compact StartLabs. Each module follows the same logic: clarify, decide, start.
Why the 2031 horizon was deliberately chosen
The name PREPARE 2031 was deliberately chosen. It does not refer to a distant vision of the future, but rather to a realistic scope for action. A StartLab needs both: a clear starting point in the present and a horizon that provides orientation. By 2031 is far enough away to define direction and priorities, yet close enough to make concrete decisions.
"Many companies today have enough knowledge, enough tools, and enough discussions. What is often missing is the translation into clear questions and binding decisions," says Wolfgang Voegele, Managing Director of LACON Consulting GmbH. "That is exactly why we developed PREPARE 2031. One day. One kick-off document. Implementation begins on Monday."
Ten StartLabs for ten pressure points
The StartLab series comprises ten modules: AI, Cyber, Delivery Capability, Skilled Workers, Customer Value, Leadership, Sustainability, Data & IT, Organization, and Cooperation. Each module addresses a pressure point that companies cannot eliminate, but for which they can prepare.
The AI StartLab focuses on guardrails rather than uncontrolled growth. The Cyber StartLab focuses on operational capability. The Delivery Capability StartLab reduces critical dependencies. The Skilled Workforce StartLab relieves key personnel. The Customer Value StartLab sharpens market relevance. The Leadership StartLab helps make clear decisions under pressure. The Sustainability StartLab makes regulations manageable. The Data & IT StartLab lays the foundation for AI and automation. The Organizational StartLab clarifies roles and decision-making processes. The Collaboration StartLab helps effectively integrate partners.
A day that makes decisions possible
Each StartLab is designed as a compact workday. Participants arrive with their own case, work on their real-world situation, and leave the day not with a loose collection of ideas, but with a documented starting point. This starting document outlines what is important now, what decision was made, what guidelines apply, who is responsible, and what should become clear in the next 30 and 90 days.
_"Our StartLabs are workshops, not lectures,"_ says Jochen Mayer of the Digital Excellence Group. _"Short inputs, working on your own case, clear agreements. This avoids more talk about problems and instead creates a solid next step."_
The core idea of the series is particularly important here: companies should not fall into a trap of mere actionism. PREPARE 2031 therefore does not start with tools or individual measures, but with orientation, guidelines, alignment, and a launch. This transforms external pressure into a clear corporate response.
Open or In-House: Two Ways to Get Started
The series can be booked as an open or in-house session. In the open format, one or two people from a company work in a small group with other decision-makers. In-house, PREPARE 2031 is particularly effective when multiple pressure points are acting simultaneously and the topics are interrelated, such as AI, data & IT, and cybersecurity, or leadership, organization, and skilled workers.
Current Entry Point: AI StartLab
The open AI StartLabs 2026 will take place on Fridays, April 24, May 22, June 26, and July 24 at the Hotel Litz/Seevital in Langenargen. The investment is 1,365 euros net per person plus VAT. A 50 percent tandem discount applies for a second person from the same company. Included are a daily allowance, beverages, and materials.

PREPARE 2031 is aimed at executive management, division heads, HR and organizational leaders, as well as companies that wish to address multiple topics not in isolation but in context. The value lies not in additional theory, but in clarity, commitment, and a foundation that supports daily operations.

Security in change: LACON's SmartSystem brings clarity to realignment.
LACON Consulting combines the four key components of any successful transformation--consulting, alignment, competence building, and implementation--into an integrated system that guides companies safely and clearly through their realignment.
Many companies want to start 2026 with a central project: a new strategy, a cultural change, a transformation, or a new product range. But the longer the journey, the clearer it becomes: a single project is not enough if strategy, alignment, competence building,…
TURNING POINT 2026
Why clarity is crucial now - and how uncertainty can be turned back into direction
2026 will not be a "business as usual" year for many companies. The situation is too dynamic, the issues too big, resources too scarce. Those who only work faster now often end up in continuous operation. With lots of activities but no clear direction.
Turning point 2026 means pausing, clarifying the essentials and then taking targeted action.…
FROM FLAME TO SOURCE - Series of articles on the new start 2026
For decision-makers who want to leave actionism behind and realign their company.
Many companies are starting 2026 with the same reflex as in previous years: more projects, more programs, more pressure. What seems like progress is actually the biggest operational risk of our time. Actionism replaces clarity - and this is precisely what is increasingly leading management teams into overload, unclear priorities and a feeling of being driven.
Our new four-part series…
