Scottsdale, AZ - March 30, 2026 - A striking monumental size 1966 mid-century modern tapestry-measuring an impressive 80" x 63"-is now available after an unexpected discovery in Scottsdale, Arizona at a charity shop. Originally exhibited in New York City during a pivotal moment in American design, this work embodies the bold scale, texture, and artistic experimentation that define the mid-century modern movement. The mid-1960s marked a pivotal shift in the art world, as artists began exploring fiber as a sculptural and expressive medium. Exhibitions like Wall Hangings introduced audiences to bold, experimental textile works that challenged traditional boundaries and redefined tapestry as contemporary art. Jim Piscopo, the Executive Director of Got Legs Furniture and Decor (the charity shop where the textile was discovered) commented "In our line of work, we see a lot of beautiful pieces come through the door-but every once in a while, something stops you in your tracks. What makes it even more meaningful is you don't expect to find museum-quality work in a neighborhood shop, but that's what makes this piece so special to us."

Created by Swedish textile artist Ragnhild Langlet (1934- ), born in Stockholm Sweden, Langlet spent much of her career in the San Francisco Bay area. In 1955 she studied ceramics at the Konstfack Skolan School in Stockholm. She began teaching at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1956 through 1958, and the University of California, Berkeley in 1960. This tapestry was included in a landmark 1966 New York exhibition that helped elevate fiber art into the realm of modern fine art. This era saw a shift from traditional decorative textiles to large-scale, architecturally integrated works designed to complement modern interiors. Some of her work is owned by the Swedish National Gallery (Nationalmuseum) in Stockholm. A small embroidered piece by Langlet (approximately 20" x 26") sold at auction in 2025 in Stockholm, Sweden for US$1,800

With its commanding size and period authenticity, this tapestry functions as artwork, interior focal point and investment opportunity:
