DRYCAKE Brings Twister Multi-Stream Recovery Solution into Focus at IFAT Munich 2026

At the event, DRYCAKE will present its Twister system, a solution for pulper reject processing designed to deliver solid recovered fuel (SRF)-quality plastics suitable for cement kilns or energy recovery. The system is recognized for producing clean and dry reject streams, while maintaining low energy consumption, compact footprint, and operational durability across multiple industrial applications.

Recent performance results underscore the system's efficiency. In September 2025, an innovation trial conducted at Mpact Limited in South Africa demonstrated output dryness levels of 72-74% when processing pulper rejects with feed moisture levels ranging from 61-75%. The Twister system enables separation of fiber from plastics in a single pass, producing material suitable for autothermal combustion without supplemental fuel, while recovering usable fibers for reintegration into the pulping process.

"These results confirm what the physics predicted: when you remove water as liquid rather than vapor, you bypass the 2,260 kJ/kg latent heat penalty entirely. Paper mills can now achieve high combustion-grade dryness using available waste heat and mechanical action, eliminating the assumption that dedicated thermal drying is required," said Mark Vanderbeken, CEO of DRYCAKE BV. "The configurable nature of paddle count, spacing, and rotational speed allows optimization for different waste heat temperatures and feedstock characteristics."
By reducing reliance on landfill and incineration while lowering disposal costs, the Twister system supports more sustainable and economically viable operations for paper mills pulper rejects processing and recycling facilities. The technology contributes to improved organics recovery and enhanced circularity within industrial processes.
