An AI Agent Across Every Channel

One of the most compelling demonstrations at AstriCon 2026 was Siperb's live AI-powered customer support system, currently in active use. The agent operates simultaneously across chat, email, WhatsApp, Telegram, and audio calls - maintaining a consistent identity and shared conversation history across all channels.
This omnichannel approach means a customer can begin a conversation via chat, continue it by phone, and the AI agent retains full context throughout - a level of continuity rarely seen in automated support systems.

What the Live Demo Showed

The AstriCon demonstration walked attendees through several real-world scenarios: the agent answering technical questions about Siperb's proxy architecture, handling a simulated call drop and resuming context seamlessly, raising a support ticket in Zoho via a tool call, and authenticating a returning caller via a PIN verification system built directly into the Siperb softphone.
The call itself was routed through Siperb's UK-based Asterisk infrastructure to OpenAI's real-time audio agent - with notably low latency across the multi-continent path.

Architecture: SIP Dial-In to OpenAI

The underlying architecture uses OpenAI's real-time audio agent accessed via direct SIP dial-in, with a Node.js agent service managing call control via WebSocket. This design eliminates the need for WebSocket audio packaging entirely, allowing an audio AI agent to become operational in minutes using standard Asterisk dial plan configuration.
This simplicity is intentional - Siperb's engineering philosophy prioritises approaches that can be maintained and extended by a small team without sacrificing capability or reliability.

The Long-Term Vision: A Customer Digital Clone

De Wet described the long-term vision for the system as a "customer digital clone" - an AI agent that accumulates the full history of every customer interaction across all channels, enabling proactive engagement and truly personalised support at scale.
