Saturday, April 4, 2026, marks the 13th World Drummers' Day! We've already made significant progress toward our goal of establishing this day of honor for drummers and percussionists annually on April 4th and are continuing to work on raising its profile and maintaining its popularity. The date 04/04 symbolically represents what is probably the most frequently played rhythm: 4/4 time. It was proclaimed in 2023 by drum teacher Christian Schages in Krefeld, Germany.

There have already been events, press, newspaper, and/or TV reports, as well as prominent participation from almost all of Europe, Africa, the USA, China, India, Turkey, and Australia. Several radio programs have already been dedicated to World Drummers' Day.

Motto: This year we're drumming for more humanity - join us! Social cohesion, peaceful coexistence, and the dismantling of prejudice must shape our shared understanding of ourselves.

Acceptance of diversity and support for the vulnerable are the cornerstones of the continuous development of our society. Our goal is to emphasize commonalities and promote dialogue.

Music and drumming have formed a universal language for centuries, transcending barriers. Where words end, rhythm creates connection, allows creative energy to flow, and strengthens the sense of community. This heartbeat of music is the driving force, emotion, and energy for all peoples of our earth. We drum for a better coexistence. For greater humanity. For you, for us, for everyone. And those who can and wish to donate money, goods, or their labor will surely find many opportunities and organizations locally, nationally, or internationally to do so meaningfully.

Perhaps you'd like to dedicate a report to this day or plan an interview with me, the creator of World Drummers' Day? - Please feel free to contact me; I'd be happy to answer your questions. At the very least, it would be wonderful if you could mention and describe our non-commercial project, World Drummers' Day (WST), in your publication and/or publish a corresponding post on your social media channels.

We also invite everyone to join in, because "drumming connects," the interplay creates a "natural high" and can "significantly move and connect humanity." This is according to a study from the University of Oxford. Therefore, our message to everyone who wants to participate: Let's get started right away. Drum away to your heart's content, and feel free to upload your videos now. A photo, picture, poem, or anything else creative will also do. In any case, please tag your work with these two hashtags:

b) Fan Shop: A non-profit fan shop with various merchandise items for World Drummers' Day has been opened to raise awareness of the project and to allow all supporters to identify even more strongly with our project.

c) Public celebrations have been held in Africa for many years on World Drummers' Day.

Here is some further information, especially for newsrooms:
World Drummers' Day has also been featured on Wikipedia for a few years and is regularly supported by print media, TV and radio broadcasts, as well as individuals and followers of our project. The German Press Agency (dpa) also offered an interview for radio stations in 2023.

World Drummers' Day has been celebrated since 2013. The project itself originated in Krefeld, is non-commercial, and has since gained national and international recognition in the music scene, appearing in various publications, including press, radio, and television. It takes place annually on April 4th (04/04) due to the most frequently played 4/4 rhythm. This year, I and my two drum schools, the Krefeld Drum School and the Rheinberg Drum School, will once again be hosting the event online. World Drummers' Day will also be celebrated on social media this year, and we're looking forward to it! We wish everyone a "Happy World Drummers' Day!" on April 4th.
