Fashion Week boss foxed by pack of anti-fur postcards

Press release from: PostBug

London, 19 February 2017: PostBug(www.postbug.com), the postcard and letter sending service is working with a campaign starter to stop fur being used at London Fashion Week. Currently over 200 real picture postcards have been sent to the British Fashion Council CEO Caroline Rush. London Fashion Week runs from the 17th to 21st February and postcards are piling up on the desk of Caroline Rush CBE.

Over 91,000 people have signed a change.org petition set up by Ed Winters, co-founder of the animal rights group SURGE, calling on the British Fashion Council to stop designers from using fur in the collections. Demonstrations are occurring outside some of the catwalk shows. Mass organised protest postcards - made easy by the new website PostBug - adds a new dimension to this and other social action campaigns.

Ed Winters the campaign starter said, "London Fashion Week has long been regarded as one of the pioneering and defining events of the fashion world."

"Every year the fur industry is responsible for the death of 1 billion rabbits and 50 million other animals - including foxes, minks, dogs, cats, racoons, chinchillas, seals and many more. Most of these animals are raised in fur farms, intensive facilities where the animals are kept in tiny cages and confined to a life of misery. These farms can hold thousands of animals and are designed to specifically maximise profits."

Supporters of banning fur at London Fashion Week have all got together to make a change via physical post. PostBug cuts through the digital and social media noise to give campaigns a physical edge by sending real letters and cards to people in power. Real post gets you out of the Twittersphere and into the hands of the decision makers. Postcards and letters cost £1 to send which is less than half the price of a cup of coffee.

Ed Winters also added "Big fashion labels like Armani, Stella McCartney, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, The Kooples, Vivienne Westwood and many more have denounced fur, yet London Fashion Week continues to provide the largest platform for fur in the UK. This has to stop."

PostBug is headed by entrepreneurs Martin Loat and Reece Campbell.
