New Book "One Small Deed" Shares the True Story of a Bone Marrow Donation That Changed Lives Across the Country
William P. Williams Jr., a lifelong resident of Louisiana, announces the release of his memoir, One Small Deed. This book highlights the remarkable true story of his experience as a non-related bone marrow donor in 1989 and the profound impact it had on his life and a family across the country. One Small Deed follows Williams' journey from joining the Louisiana HLA Registry through a local civic club project to discovering he was a perfect match for a 36-year-old mother of four battling Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia. Drawing on his personal history, including the early loss of his own mother, Williams talks about the emotional, physical, and spiritual challenges he faced during the donation process, resulting in a successful transplant that saved a stranger's life.
Through firsthand accounts, letters, and reflections, the memoir discusses how the donation sparked unexpected national media attention and created a lasting bond between Williams and the recipient's family. The story highlights the far-reaching power of a single act of kindness and the importance of volunteer donors for patients battling life-threatening diseases.
One Small Deed is now available for readers interested in an inspiring account of courage, compassion, and the impact of selfless service.
